That somehow looks a little odd (not that I claim it to be fake or valid in any way, I wouldn't know). Slim fans and what looks like two seperate heat sinks?

Nothing odd about it - same setup as on the ACX cooler from evga.

I wouldn't trust this, the DD coolers were terrible and considering what the TDP is of the 300 series..

Hmm, that's true, didn't think about those (never had one).

It looked odd to me. But only till I realized I am comparing it to my HD7970 with Accelero 3-slot cooling which is hard to fit into case as it is long too. Looks nice, I hope for good temperatures. Power Consumption does not matter to me, I want to double performance. And if true then AMD gave time to AIB to make customs, so they do not have to release bad reference cooling. I still hope for good aiw water cooler to be available too.

Looks very cool if true and functions well.

MSI Gaming or the Sapphire TRI-X will do me 😀

What is the TDP of the 300 series?

No one knows for sure but probably a lot. It's most likely going to be 28nm and they tacked on 40% more shaders then a 290x which is like a 270w card. I'm sure they made some architecture improvements but a 390x WCE is probably going to be a ~320-330w card.

I wish i could buy a 390x same time The Witcher 3 launch would be awesome. Still wait for water cooled card AMD releases i'll bet is better cooled and more quiet then a air cooled, if price right i go for AMD's water cooled.

As usual you guys always find something to nag about, just to discredit AMD so looks bad even before its released, you Nvidia guys are so predictable it's sad:( Instead of hope AMD deliver this time and being succes it also benefit you guys or you realy hope AMD fails and eventually so we only have Nvidia left to as videocard maker? Lets hope for your sake AMD deliver and is huge succes PC market need succes both camps not only Nvidia unless you want PC to die as gaming platform?

Uhm no, won't happen, and would be nice but the signs don't look too good, unfortunately. 😀 On a serious note, if they manage to cool that thing, nothing against a two slot cooler. But if the card (chip actually) is hot, I'm not sure this cooler will keep it below 80°C under heavy load.

As far as TDP/power consumption goes, I care little. I want just one card, PSU will manage well. And I do not expect anything horrific since I presume that AMD will use improvements which we saw for Carrizo since many of those are applicable here too.

What the hell are you talking about? Where in my post did I say anything negative about AMD? Someone asked what the TDP of the card was and I stated my opinion with some basic evidence to support it. For the vast majority of people here the TDP of the card is irrelevant as long as the performance/watt is acceptable, in which case AMD should be about 30-40% faster then a 980. I'm also heavily considering buying a 390x if the 4K performance is excellent (which it should be with HBM). So no, I don't hope AMD fails at all. And the fact that over the last 6 months I've been called both an AMD/Nvidia fanboy over a dozen times basically reaffirms to me that I'm like the least biased person here.

I have read every posting on this thread and there is not one Nvidia person here that gave any discredit to AMD. What the person asked is a perfectly legitimate question. 2nd of all if there was only 1 video card developer PC gaming would not die as a platform. Console gaming might since they rely on AMD for cheaper parts. The card looks like an improvement if true over the 290/290x version of the same card. However we need benchmarks to see if this is indeed an improvement.

Hope will not save AMD is the card will be bad,I said if!Hope will not save gaming on PC,ppl will buy the card is the price and performance is right,if not AMD will be in deep ****.I don`t care about nV or AMD,they don`t care about me,but what I do care is to get the best HW my money can buy.

Why wouldn't the cooler be enough? HBM controller uses less heat so it should be perfectly doable.

The memory controller is not a significant portion of power. If it uses say 15% (I think it actually uses more like 10%) of total power of the GPU, reducing it by half only gives you 7.5% less power. That's 22w on a 300w card. Also I'd argue that the 2.5D memory configuration decreases the area of heat dissipation, as the memory modules are significantly closer to the chip. That being said, if XFX built the card I'm sure they are aware of it's tolerances and designed it accordingly. The cooler is probably fine.

XFX coolers aren't even the best usually. Even then I believe this will be cooled nicely. It ain't like it is a 295x2 which was cooled with air too later.
