Well just an nVidia GPU. Is something different between this and a terascale 3 firepro?

With one of these cards and four big displays you could make a pretty good-sized 2x2 wall. Four 50s would make a 100-inch wall. That could be interesting.

Good old Matrox, I remember them from the 90s, never owned their GPUs though. Good to see them back, kinda.

I was about to write "nope, AMD", then I googled and turns out you're right. They switched to Nvidia for some reason.

I also had the 2mb version. I bought the 6mb upgrade. You had to download a bios update and flash it before installing the ram or it wouldn't work properly.

I paid about 150~160$ USD in early 1997 sometime for a Matrox MGA PCI for my Cyrix 6x86 PR150/120mhz (OC'ed via jumpers to PR166/133mhz for Quake), and got a 200$ Matrox Millenium II AGP on my Pentium II 300 system in DEC 97. Both were 4mb cards IIRC. Yes, the Matrox PCI video upgrade from a Cirrus Logic 2mb PCI card actually did help DOS Quake run just a bit smoother, that and the small overclock via jumpers on the CPU helped loads - the CPU was a non-mmx version. I really miss those days, big time. Always had a rockin' PC config because I worked - sometimes two jobs simultaneously - while in high school. Still have some variant of Matrox AGP card in my desk drawer here (G200?), right on-top of an ISA non-PNP SoundBastard-16.

Yup, anytime MATROX comes up, this should be a given.

You would understand if you played in 90s.

Matrox never went anywhere. They've been selling graphics adapters targeting professional applications since they left the consumer market.

Ah, Matrox. They were my "first" "3D" card. The Matrox Mistake. I mean the Matrox Mystique.

Yup, upgraded to the Mystique from onboard video so could play Riven when it was released.
