There is issues with acceleration in laser mice, you just dont notice it. For someone like me, who went from MX518 to G500, I found that mouse nearly unusable, so I bought a G400 to replace the G500.
that's weird, I also switched from an mx518 (greatest mouse i've ever had) to a g500 and I've had no issues adapting. the only weird thing was that the sensor is more towards the front of the mouse.

I don't want to comment on the button placement on this new G-series mouse until I've had a chance to actually get my hands on it and see how it feels, but that G8 thumb button looks like it is way to far forward. I don't know about you but even when I'm gripping a mouse my thumb does not reach as far forward as my index finger does, and by about half an inch. I mean look at that thing, the center of it is forward of the centre of the wheel! Similarly, that G4 button seems to be too far back. But, again, since I haven't actually had my hands on one of these I really can't tell for sure if I'm right or not. That said, I love my Logitech G700 laser mouse. It's smooth, the buttons are awesome, and I have had zero problems with the software. I don't use the current version of Logitech's gaming software because I'm used to Setpoint 5.46.10 and I don't see a need to update it, and also because the last version of their "gaming Software" that I tried was buggy as f@ck and i just said "hell no" to their new stuff and stuck with the old stuff. New software doesn't always mean better software.

That too, the acceleration issue and sensor position made me not like the mouse

I did notice the same thing about that G8 button, I'll definitely want to get my hands on it in a store before I make a decision. You might give the new software a second chance, they've really improved it quite a bit. I like it so much more than the old SetPoint. The only issue I ever run in to any more is that sometimes I'll need to restart the software after waking my pc up from sleep, but I think that has to do with the LCD apps for my G15/13.
