I don't want to comment on the button placement on this new G-series mouse until I've had a chance to actually get my hands on it and see how it feels, but that G8 thumb button looks like it is way to far forward. I don't know about you but even when I'm gripping a mouse my thumb does not reach as far forward as my index finger does, and by about half an inch. I mean look at that thing, the center of it is forward of the centre of the wheel! Similarly, that G4 button seems to be too far back. But, again, since I haven't actually had my hands on one of these I really can't tell for sure if I'm right or not.
That said, I love my Logitech G700 laser mouse. It's smooth, the buttons are awesome, and I have had zero problems with the software. I don't use the current version of Logitech's gaming software because I'm used to Setpoint 5.46.10 and I don't see a need to update it, and also because the last version of their "gaming Software" that I tried was buggy as f@ck and i just said "hell no" to their new stuff and stuck with the old stuff. New software doesn't always mean better software.
