When it's in stock in stores, is what I want to know 😉

Lets hope AMD deliver with these cpu/gpu's.

Please AMD: give us benchmarks so we know if we want it. And then, bring stuff to stores in abundant numbers, and you'll make a crapload of money.

Hmm, I wonder what they mean by "all new GPU architecture". Everything they've shown until now has indicated Navi was just going to be another GCN iteration.

Tipical overhyping the product with amd instead of being modest and pricing it right.

Probably a announcement of 3rd gen Ryzen at Computex and a launch in July like we saw with the Radeon VII launch.

If in the end Navi lands in around the area of 2080 performance wise, and for a lesser price, that will be a successful product.

I'd be surprised if it didn't have enough changes to make it compete better. Simply a node shrunk Polaris or Vega wouldn't cut the mustard anymore.

Plz be realistic. A radeon vii performs at rtx2080 level. It's been clearly indicated before that navi would be their mainstream gpus. Overhype is a bad thing, people get unnecessarily disappointed.

Radeon VII is sub-2080 performance as it currently stands, and they're at the limits of manageable TDP. I'd be pretty surprised to see anything faster than a Vega 64.

On an Annual Stockholders Meeting yesterday AMDs Lisa Su reconfirmed Q3 for Ryzen 3rd gen, Epyc Rome and NAVI. Q3 means from July to September. That's what, the second or third confirmation?... Lisa Su confirms Q3 launch for Ryzen, Epyc and NAVI
That extra confirmation is well timed to remind buyers of alternatives to Intels security-plagued CPUs.

Can you summarize (source slide, official post, video with AMD person talking, filled patent, ...) what AMD shown that made you believe Navi is GCN?

Either way, it is new (and that's only thing you can call hyping "All New Architecture"). And if only 1/2 of things I did read in patents filled more than 2 years ago by AMD are used for Navi, we are for nice new start on GPU front. I think that Navi will be successful. What I do not know is early set of released chips and what we are getting later. But if we were to get small 40 "CU" chips, they would be around 50~70% faster than RX-580. As RX-580 is memory bandwidth starved which Navi should alleviate externally via GDDR6 and internally via scheduling changes and caches. That alone gets you 10% speed bump w/o increasing CU count or GPU clock. Then you are getting 11% more "CU"s with quite some changes. And 30~50% higher clock than RX-580. (RX-580 you see in benchmarks are stock ones @1340MHz, while Navi w/ 40 "CU" should be able to get 1800MHz+ while still being reasonably power efficient... rumors going to 2GHz may be ignored as that would put such GPU on very different place.) But I would like to have for start at least 52 "CU"s and more than double RX-580 performance. (I can dream.) Btw. if you referred to CPU "Ground breaking performance, features, power efficiency." Go back in time to January and their ES 8C/16T matching 9900K. (I'll not go into some of things I still consider as possible for Zen2 as they kind of feel like unreasonable expectations. But we'll see soon enough.) I'll just mention 3~4 threads per core and that possibility of 8C/24T and 8C/32T should not be off the table as well as 12C/24T and maybe even 16C/32T. (As this is definitely on table for Zen3.)

The slide says "Radeon VII + Navi", which seems to indicate to me that Radeon VII is not going to be replaced - which in conclusion means that Navi is going to be slower.

Both of these slides are from this year; 2 things. They clearly go out of their way to designate their next GPU to be their "next gen" architecture, and they also specifically indicate that we won't see any real efficiency gains until that architecture. It's not in quotes either, so "next gen" is not the name.Efficiency gains are what AMD needs to be able to do much of anything at all at this point, and they indicate we shouldn't really expect much in that department.. They are literally TDP limited to 1080 Ti performance on a smaller node at this point. Navi definitely won't be that fast. I can't find the slide, but there has been one floating around for a couple of years that has Polaris/Vega/Navi listed before "Next Gen". Common sense would tell you that Navi is still clearly GCN. There is also this: https://www.pcgamesn.com/amd/navi-linux-confirms-gcn-design edit: One thing I will say though, which is entirely possible, is that Navi will actually be as big as Vega. I don't find this to be very likely given how expensive early 7nm is, but it's possible I suppose, and it would line up with rumors (save for the TDP). https://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/47155/content/AMD-GPU-roadmap.jpg https://images.anandtech.com/doci/14286/gpuroadmap_575px.png

It may be ground breaking, but possibly not quite as useful. There is only so much hardware every core has, and while a second thread can make use of scheduling deficits to use idle hardware quite well, there are extremely strong diminishing returns from adding more threads to individual cores - nevermind software limitations in even keeping more threads busy. In a consumer line, like Ryzen, I really don't see the added value for more SMT threads.

The wait is getting bothersome -.- I still hope for a July CPU release though.
