So, touch layer is foldable too? Anyway, all those thin (light) and bendable displays... I think they could greatly improve VR.

Tbh honest i like the idea of foldable displays, it's one step closer to rollable displays, which already Samsung showed as a working concept. Imagine to have portable TV, or console, in the size of this "https://i.imgur.com/vRoshRY.jpg" where you grab the end part of the display and you roll it out like a scroll. The problem i see is not the technology, but the business. I've read about foldable displays in 2011, i've read that the technology has been patented and is ready for further research and application for the market. But, LG, Samsung ect. won't do this, because market still can benefit from current technologies, improving them and that we don't need new technology, when consumers buy the old one. And i said to myself, okay i get the point, why bring new technology, when you can make shit tons of money from the old one. But hey, it has been 7 years since i've read the article and what has changed? Nothing...we read dozens of articles about " xy company is working on xy foldable product" "xy company want to bring foldable displays to the market in late 2015, in late 2016, in late 2018, in summer 2020" and again and again, they are talking about it, but it's not happening, and that's what bothering me.... companies talk talk talk and for 7 yrs we can't buy a single product.

for me the rollable screen isn't a great idea, bur i like the idea of very flexible screens, that can improve a lot durability on handhelds

Well foldable in a roll can be partially the death of the projector! So far we carry rolled the fabric for the projector and the projector that can be really bulky ...i will not say no if you just have everything with in the roll!

The question isn't "why?" -it's why not? Mostly useless but you gotta admit, it's pretty cool that we can even do that.
