why? i think SMAA T2X is much better than MSAA...:)

Yep,at least one dev put SMAA into a game. They need to forget about FXAA.

Fxaa is good enough most of the time on 4k :P

Is that not a better/less taxing implementation all together...? I remember MSAA just sucking up resources whilst looking the same.

I used SMAA injector whenever i could, FXAA is just blurry mess. Performance was the same, so really no point for me to use FXAA.

Borderless windowed? πŸ™‚

Cmon guys, i know this is an enthusiast website, but why so much talk about AA? ItΒ΄s just cause 3, you have an infinte supply of parachutes on your ass and you can sit on top of a jet plane while in mid-air. πŸ€“

But how can you appreciate limitless supply of parachutes on your ass, with jaggies? You monster!

I haven't used SMAA or FXAA in an eternity. But back when SMAA was new and I was injecting it for tests it did take a notable amount more GPU power, minimum 10% (overall GPU usage) more. It was a massive resource hit and wasn't really better than FXAA, it depended on what was on the screen. Have things changed that much?

No FOV control? That's the most important setting today. I stopped playing and asked a refund for the last game without FOV control (which was Battlefield Hardline).

Almost any game can be made to work borderless windowed through third party utilities. Google "borderless gaming" as that is the name of the tool I use. There is one more and the name escapes me, but I can find it if you still want it.

So I have heard. RadeonPro's SMAA 1X Ultra is already very effective against jaggies and performance friendly on 1080p.
No its not SMAA is post processing fake, its much less taxing but looks allot more fuzzy compared to MSAA. Look @ the flags and the trees sharpness. http://international.download.nvidia.com/geforce-com/international/comparisons/far-cry-4/far-cry-4-anti-aliasing-comparison-1-8x-msaa-vs-smaa.html Best aa methods are SSAA, MSAA and MLAA.
SSAA: tanks performance. MSAA 4X: A fair compromise. MLAA: Intel or AMD's obsolete plaything. Catalyst MLAA is a blurry mess just like FXAA. SMAA builds on MLAA foundation.

Hopefully they hear your opinion. Many games allow ini. edits to change FOV. We need not feel desperate at present. For me, refresh rate (not fixed to 60hz) and frame rate cap (the absence of it) mean so much. The last two Just Cause games did not set a limit. But I'd like firm news about them.

I'd much prefer if the game supports it. I'll try that application you mentioned, thanks.

Yea so annoyed pretty much all triple A games are not implementing MSAA/any REAL 3d anti aliasing. It is 100% possible in advanced deferred rendering engines like JC3 obviously uses. It's just vastly more difficult to implement.. But there's a reason these games have million dollar budgets - hiring the freaking expensive programmers that can actually implement that site with your **** ton of money SQEX! If you can afford to give away an island to some noob, you can afford a decent programmer that can implement MSAA. Though of course we all know the real reason: Console can't handle real AA. And consoles are where most of the money dollars lie.. Stupid weak consoles making pc games worse. Though of course M$ in their infinite wisdom are partially to blame to, making MSAA very difficult to implement in DX11/12 with deferred rendering. Well at least one of the guys at avalanche was smart enough to implement SMAA. It at least doesn't look like your smearing vaseline all over the screen like the way too commonly implement FXAA. It's still blurry and vastly inferior to real 3d aa though. Though at the same time - resolution render scale is very easy to implement, they they didn't include that either. (Not that we'd be able to run it at the desired 1.5-2x required to hide any aliasing anyways on todays hardware, but in a year or two... maybe in a patch)

Actually, SMAA T2X is a very efficient mode; it uses inter-frame information to determine proper pixel edges, as opposed to SMAA 1X (what you see in injectors everywhere) where it's merely a rather simple post-process. (each type of SMAA has varying settings, which is why SMAA 1X injectors have low to ultra presets and custom settings, T2X has those parameters too, but it usually can't just be injected) No, what concerns me is the lack of chromic aberration options; does this mean we don't get to turn it off, or that they didn't put it in the game? Hoping the latter is the case.
