Their iGPUs are for free with most of their CPUs. There is nothing to compalin about when it's free, or so I thought. I remember not having iGPU and my discrete GPU dying. So atm, I'd rather have a PC that works but not gaming capable, then have no PC at all (AMD solution)
None of that has anything to do with what i said, so i don't know why you quoted me. Being "free" is subjective as i guarantee you its no more free then when iGPUs were in motherboards, the only way to determine "free" would be to directly compare a cpu with and without, equal cpu specs, and see which one is cheaper. I guarantee you, especially intel, does not give anything for "free", they take into consideration the cost they spend on the iGPU and factor it into the price of the CPU. But even if it were free, wouldnt matter to what i was saying, i don't hold any confidence in their iGPUs, and them being "free" or not doesn't change that when it comes what i am determining that on: performance. And you can guarantee their dedicated GPUs will not have an ounce of interpretation of "free", so again, i'll go back to what i originally said: i don't know why you quoted me.

Actually, it's pretty objective; the iGPU is surprisingly expensive. Compare these 2 for example: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAH417YP8517 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6ZP8RS9544 Both are Coffee Lakes, 6 cores, roughly the same price, roughly the same frequency range. But, the Xeon doesn't have an iGPU, it has 12 threads, supports ECC, and has a larger L3 cache. Those are all pretty valuable features there.

About time we had another player in the market, now that RTG are gone.

Hype'd!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Intel will be very competitive. Intel has some of the best best engineers in the world and tons of cash. Intel's management has made some really brain dead decisions over the last few years but getting into this GPU space isn't one of them. If they are serious this time they have more than enough resources to pull this off and I really think they are serious.

All valid points, but there are also 2 major counterpoints: 1. This is the first "legit" GPU Intel has made. Yeah I know, they made dGPUs before, but there was always something fundamentally flawed about the other stuff they made. This is their first attempt at making something that's actually desirable (at least in theory). I expect this first generation will yield adequate but un-impressive results (much like Vega) since Intel doesn't really have much time or experience refining their architecture or drivers. In other words, this will probably be a competitor to AMD's lineup, not Nvidia's. 2. Patents. To my understanding, AMD and Nvidia both use patented technologies that make a significant difference in performance. I'm not sure if they have any agreements to share such technologies, but they both have made it difficult even for ARM platforms to use certain features. Of course they have fallen victim to patent restrictions as well, such as S3TC (where only recently has that patent expired). Intel never really had any reason to invest in optimizing performance for 3D acceleration; their top priority was energy-efficient video decoding and their 2nd priority was OpenGL, DX, Vulkan, and OpenCL compliance, none of which need specialized patents. In other words, Intel is either going to have to pay AMD+Nvidia for access to their patents, or they're going to have to get creative (or, they have to out-pace them by brute force).

just got a rtx 2060 for no reason to put in my rig it is a solid brick. looks like my 7600gt with cpu cooler lol garbo that founders looks better. bought from frys cuz it leakin water all over building. moreover, served some hamburgers to one of the engineers working on this intel gpu cool guy. Interested in it release and how it compares to other gpus,
