we dont even have 4k wide spread hell neither is 2k and they already try 8k apparently tech advance faster then the ability for the tech to even see light of day to the masses.
will 10k be announced by the time 2k becomes standard and widely available, and 12k by time 4k is?
Hell i still wating on oLED it announced how long ago? it the only tech that bring back response time to on par with crt as far as current led/lcd to goes. which what bother me about led/lcd tech to begin with.
great accomplishment none the less, be more impressed when it actual something more then accomplishment and is actual something widely available to the consumer. like so many other techs announced

8k or 4k isn't good due to moviments limited (motion blur issue) and to lack of CRT. 🙁

would you believe avatar was rendered in 2k???

Just thought I'd let you know. I am throwing away a perfectly good 21" CRT. It hasn't been used in years.. I sure don't miss how much these things weigh. To the recycling center it goes!

133 eh? I saw a documentary about space travel the other day and one of the probe orbiting the planets had a 93mp camera. I mean it gotta be other type of technology, but still!

Screw 'retina' displays. How about retina capture?

I don't even want to think of the render times....

Can you believe how good porn would look if recorded at 8k? 🙂

I already mentioned this a long time ago that 4k is just a stepping stone like 720p and that Full UHD is 8k.

My thoughts are how much GPU power and ram and CPU power would we need to game at 8k I am loving 1080p contemplaiting 4k in the future but could it be short lived and 8k is the real future of gaming

Why is everyone so surprized? Heck even a galaxy note 3 has ability to film in 4K.

higher resolution doesnt automatically mean better pic quality.
just compare your cellphone video in FHD to a 720/30p recording of a 5000$ DSLR/lens combo.
and if people would really "think" about the cost and hardware involved to have 8K.
we dont even get BD quality as cable signal, do you really think the broadcasting companys will stream 1 channel in 8K or 150 in HD?!
just because the Bugatti Veyron has 1000HP and can go past 230mph, doesnt mean every driver on this planet needs one.

The higher the better, but it all really comes down to application. I'm 100% happy with my 1080p 50" Pioneer KURO 500M monitor. Only a handful of monitors can top the image quality, despite being 6 years old... The only time I'll consider upgrading is when a 50" monitor/TV can deliver the KURO's blacks & colors at 144Hz at 4K+ resolution. Otherwise I really don't give two ****s about the awful ISP monitors all you guys own: image quality is the only thing that really matters, if you don't have that then gg.

@acidsnow
the X900/950 series from sony beats any plasmas black and color.
run some color banding tests on your plasma and you realise how "bad" it looks, compared to what the 4K sonys do.
compare the color gamut from your plasma to the triluminos. still a plasma fan?! ;-)
and as long as your not gaming on the tv, the 144Hz are useless for cable/movies.
