Yeah... I couldn't imagine a card that throttles out of the box running like intended.
But they're basically just saying "RMA it" right now, and we do have seen denied requests for that in relation to junction temp already.

On other hand NVidia card tend to get cooler but with more episodic high temp point when high duty, it's not that it isn't working...
The best over cooled GPU can run very hot depending on many variable, even more with the new main box that doesn't vent at all for many reason:
-too many AIO, mostly mounted on it without looking at the direction of the vent (keep the heat inside in conflict and/or block the air passing in and out).
-the use of tempered glass... it's cool and cute... but doesn't help...
-the AMD driver that allow OC without telling how it work: it's not because the driver allow, that your board will suport it (even more if the build have all the fail in this list)...
The new gen of "power user" doesn't know 1/4 of what we know, because everything already exist (they doesn't had to make WC with soldered copper on an old CPU rad, recycle aquarium pump, and get a VW Golf or Opel/GM Corsa inside radiator in a scrap yard... they have AIO lol).
-the too big radiator of the GPU, when you have a 3,5 slot GPU (mean a 4 in real world) you need AT LEAST one more slot to let passing air in front of the ventilators.
So it's not for mATX despite it fit, (i even seen a colorfull 1050Ti overheating for that reason on a DTX box, the card were perfect... but doesn't breath enough on it).
So, for now, it's not so alarming, mostly noise and drama.
That's disappointing. Any news on the 7900xt having similar issues?
On the 6 big boxes of 7900XT sold for now in the shop i do extra work, we have no complain (Sapphire the basic FE, if you need the model).
No XTX for now, the big shop get them all.
It's hot but i had some hardware with higher temp and that keep working (one is pinned on my wall as tropheo and reached that temp nearly every day... lol)

The stock cooler on 7900 XTX is great, cool better than 6900 XT but the 110c issue is a big problem and suffers from no zero fan meaning fan will always run.
You can see from the pic before I saw my 7900 XTX was suffering from this so I return it to the store and order RTX 4080 FE. it was down clocking so hard the game was stuttering and crashing.

As far as I understand the problem could be bad thermal paste application, so a fault in the production of the card and not a design fault.
Users should RMA the card and not try and fix it.

Obviously my views and i dont expect anybody or everybody to agree, but im pretty sure if we went back a few months and looked on the forums people expected the 4080 to be both more powerful and less expensive than it currently is. yeah sure loads of contributing factors but considering in some countries its way way way more expensive than a 3090, its not way way way more powerful.
Doing that might void the warranty of the card, depending on the AIB policy.
I think that is down to the country you live rather than any company policy, the days of "Warranty Void If Removed" stickers in many countries are long gone.
Received my 7900Xt last week, out of the box idle power consumption was definitely higher around 70W and junction temps were roughly 10C higher then GPU temps. On stock fan profile, Junction temps did hit 90C which made me cringe while playing Control.
Never liked NVIDAs default fan profile, always customized the fan cycle with Afterburner. So I did the same with AMDs, updated to 22.12.2 downloaded through GURU3D, and adjusted the Fan tuning.
Junction temps still got warm, but with my fan tuning even kept the temps within reasonable range.
Control: GPU CUR Temps hit 67C while the Junction temps hit 83C
Fan speed was 68%
Dang though @ 4k with Medium RT, Control was eating 12gb of Vram.
Also found iCUE stupid Murals was on eating GPU usage and keeping idle power high. Disabled it, now idle temps and power are good.

I think that is just for pre-built PCs, that is composed of several individual components, each with it's own warranty.
