€ 3 000 MRSP, € 10 000 in shops ?

I'd believe it if I saw it.

I mean... technically they can do it, as the fully unlocked version of the ga102 chip in the nvidia a6000 has 10752 shader cores and 48gb vram... but... unless you need a whoooooole lot of vram, the bump up from 10496 shader cores in the 3090 to the fully unlocked 10752 shader cores wouldn't exactly be a massive improvement. Then again, they have done this before.

Apart from that MRSP is thin air atm. it is even more interesting to see the increase in MRSP vs performance over the last generations of GPU's, both from Nvidia as AMD, talk about moving the bracket into a bad direction.

And being 5% faster than 3090 with 400w TDP at start? I don't see a point at all. Oh and the price would be interesting.. lol

It wouldn't even be 5% - it would be 2% max.

Nvidia certainly wouldn't replace the 3090 and move the rest of the pricing down. Of course they'd charge more for any 3090ti card, probably around $2000 if I'm being honest. They'd sell out a month before release day to miners as usual.

Just don't waste your money at this point. Miners and scalpers will grab them first regardless. Wait for the next generation.

It could be worth a wait. If amd chiplet rummors are true next generation will murder this one. Imagine paying 3k$ for 3090 and in within a year it get smashed by a 400$ 4060. 😀

I think they will intentionally not make the generational leap too big, so they can milk us for longer.

Lets hope thats not true. A big generational leap would be nice after this shitshow.

Just create a NASA GPU for us to use on gaming for 50000$-150000$ please. I know nvidia can do it

Thing is, there is still a limit to what they can do with a chiplet design, and keep it feasible - so if they give us as much improvement as they can with the chiplet design right away, then we might end up with a situation similar to the pascal / turing situation, where pascal was a massive improvement over maxwell, and turing was barely an improvement over pascal... so everyone upgraded with pascal, and very few upgraded with turing. Im willing to bet that nvidia would want to avoid getting in that situation again. Would ofc be great for consumers though.

What are you talking about we all know the 4060 is going to be 2k$ The higher performance goes the higher the dollar price goes... no exceptions.... ever........ forever....... and ever..... and ever.... *stares off into the distance after making myself feel sad*

Personally I'd be careful about hoping miracles from the chiplet design. Right now AMD and Nvidia could be manufacturing thrice as many products and they would still sell all of them, so it doesn't really encourage them to offer more for the same money. It's more reasonable to expect, in the mainstream, if the technology somehow works perfectly, that the performance will grow modestly, while profits grow more. In the CPU market things went as they did with Ryzen because nothing had happened for 10 years. There has been no such stalling in the GPU market, so you can't miraculously make the processors multiple times stronger while also making more profit at the same time. Anyway, should we really expect, seriously, the next gen before 2023, at most the very end of '22? The current gen has mostly gone into miner hands, so for most gamers they are still brand new products. Both Nvidia and AMD know this.

There is no product placement for a 3090ti in the stack, the 3090 is already totally unlocked.

I dont have any doubt that it is being played super dirty - especially by china... i'd LOVE to know how big a percentage of all manufactured gpus actually make it outside china. My guess would be a staggeringly small number.

No it isn't. But the performance difference would be miniscule.

Honestly once graphics cards hit the 3K mark we cease to be the master race, at that point we become the idiot race.

Unless new fabs are opened up by next generation, I think we're going to see the same problem. Demand is still way too high. Unfortunately, I think we're looking at another whole year of this nonsense. But unlike some people around here, I don't think this is going to be going on for a decade.

Well... consoles also have inflated prices, so relatively speaking, we're not that idiotic. The only difference is miners aren't using consoles, so there's less of an excuse for their price hikes.
