Price has nothing to do with Intel
He's right, if intel had something to do with the price it'd be way more..

Looks like pretty standard Intel pricing. Nothing extraordinary from the blue team.

And you can go faster for less money πŸ™‚ About this CPU: ... (speechless) ...

and it's still going to be out of stock really quickly...

Auction only. Be interesting to see what one is willing to pay.

Buying and owning a Ferrari is done for status symbol (new models), investment (rare models), or both (old, rare models πŸ˜›). I think actual driving is a distant 3rd. This processor is exclusive and expensive but the comparison falls apart after that. It's not an investment. Status symbol maybe (but who is going to remove your cooler to check?)... Bragging rights don't make much sense either since performance will be in line with the 9980xe and 2990wx for workstation tasks. The 9900k will spank this thing at any gaming benchmark. People who are really concerned about having the most extreme Intel machine are waiting on that "X599" board from Asus (ie overclock-friendly LGA3647). I'm sure folks will snap these up quickly, I'm just not sure why they would.

Oh dear , pricing getting way out of hand on Intel , less cores for a lot more money 😱 , you can just buy a new 9980xe and overclock it for a lot less money and you will have 18 cores 36 threads with more frequency πŸ˜›. Someone keeps making the wrong decisions at Intel , in my opinion.

Because they'll be one of the few that own it. Some people just have to own things like this

Makes sense, INTEL is greedy and wants max profits and this is the only option available thanks to AMD being very competitive. ;-)

At least if you can afford one you'll save on heating bills. Who needs gas fires when you have a 300w CPU running. I even think it'll swallow up to 350w with a high OC.
