It looks like both the Intel and AMD solutions are going to be really close to entry level, bargain video cards. Close enough where that entire segment may disappear entirely?

It is rather amusing to see OpenGL v4.5 listed as "Latest APIs Support". It was released in 2014 while OpenGL v4.6 is from 2017 and it is not even listed. There is no mention of Vulkan either which is puzzling for support of latest APIs. It would be a much better option than OpenGL of any version.

shader count between different architectures they say literally nothing see for example Cuda vs Gcn vs navi 1 shader counts .... they are not 1 to 1 ....at all

Even if the frequency is higher and the shader count is higher that doesnt mean the performance will be higher. Different architects mean comparing those two things itself is basically meaningless numbers.

I think RAM speed will be the deciding factor here. iGPU's benefit massively from faster RAM. It will probably boil down to which one supports the higher RAM. We don't know how powerful those new Intel shaders are yet. Are they stronger than AMD's or not? Having more will obviously help but they are only pairing them with 2 and 4 core CPU's? Whereas AMD lists 4, 6, and 8 cores. If those AMD ones also use SMT they will crush those Intel chips. I suspect the 640 and 768 parts to beat the AMD parts but as we see Intel are giving up a lot of die space for those iGPU's forcing them to only offer 2 and 4 cores (probably with HT). These chips all around look like very enticing parts though. I suspect the AMD G series Renoir will probably have more mature drivers as its built using an existing architecture (VEGA). These would make for an excellent SFFPC for the living room for some 4K movie streaming and light gaming. I can see these being very very popular for emulator machines.

Hasn't it already? What used to be called entry level (nVidia 610, Radeon HD 7350... and equivalent crap) doesn't even exist anymore. Now lower-mid will disappear.

They were just a few examples of 100-200 GFLOPS cards, but... There was the 8350, and the R5 220... and it more or less stopped there. The R5 330 was at least not as extremely bad as the previous lowest-end cards (it jumped to 550 GFLOPS). Today's AMD cheapest current generation offering is the Radeon RX 5500, which is 4.700 GFLOPS. Anything cheaper is not from this year or last year. To find something from AMD that is less than 4.700 GFLOPS you have to go to 2017 (GCN 4th gen and previous).

Drivers can make a big difference. Intel does make better drivers but they have a lot of catching up to do. I don't think most people realize how complex GPU drivers are.

Yeah, agreed, I don't think most people do realise. It's not that simple. These are top professionals and they're doing the best and hopefully drivers will get better with time

True, true... was looking at the RX 500 series. Either way, the Radeon 610 is GNC 1st gen, which is from 2012.
