That exactly what I thought when I saw AMD statement πŸ˜€ Well played, Intel. I mean... Hey Intel, it's me, AMD. Send 8086K please πŸ™‚

I'm pretty sure AMD saw this coming when they launched their little joke campaign. But what does it matter? It was still funny, and I admit Intel's reply is funny as well. Over the years, in various places in the internets, I've posted plenty of humorous comments with an obvious loophole for a smart reply, precisely hoping someone would use the opportunity to make the joke last longer. Sometimes it has happened, sometimes not. It most certainly doesn't mean I'd have failed in either case.

A measured response from Intel but AMD were hardly suggesting they wanted an 8086K CPU with their comment:
We appreciate the advancements they’ve helped drive with the x86 architecture over the last four decades. But, we’re ready to take it from here.
Intel have forgotten how to compete...their 28-core overclocking shenanigans only emphasise this.
Oh sorry, we were so excited during the demo that we forgot to mention the CPU was overclocked...or that it was using a heavily modified aquarium chiller to cool it.
Buildzoid suggested this chip would probably do 4.2-4.3GHz overclocked on air.

You must be fun at parties πŸ™‚

Like little kids at a playground, hopefully Intel will get their stuff together

AMD should just reply by asking if delidding voids the warranty on their new 8086's...

I saw that video, i am pretty sure he was saying it was watercooling since depending on the voltage 4.3Ghz would be around 500w of heat.

Well, joke is on AMD there. Because while delid of intel's chip voids warranty, it still works afterwards, while AMD's chip is dead. To the intel's reply: User comments below that reply are proof that while funny, intel is no longer favorite of crowd. I think AMD should dare intel to donate few dozens of those chips to them. And then AMD should redistribute them to charity.

I would find it funny if AMD responded sth like "I see your six, here is an extra 12"! or maybe they could raise by 22 when the next threadrippers are ready

A measured response by Intel (for once). Kudos! πŸ™‚

I think that's a great reply from Intel. I would still rather have the Threadripper though.

You haven't made any point here, at all. Linus delidded a threadripper and successfully swapped his name printed IHS from the non functional chip in the review kits to it. Bye. [youtube=S-pii4mI3iU]

Did he soldered new IHS back? If not, he decreased cooling performance and introduced need to exchange TIM from time to time. I hope you did not consider delid as something people do because they can, since they do it because of cooling.

Actually based on your comment the video shows your comment is wrong. Try watching it or editing your original comment before doubling down on a something that was just proven to not be the case.

Theres no point in deliding the Threadrippers or the larger Ryzen CPU's since deliding yields near no benefit so i am not sure what you are going on about???? Soldering will last way longer that voiding your warranty and replacing the TIM which is phsical damage that can be checked than being soldered and working at peak efficiency to well beyond it's expected life. Sam for the Ryzen APU's they are clock limited not heat limited so even deliding them is near useless, except bring the temps down and allow air cooling to run cooler.

I think joke is on me in the end. Because I apparently need interpreter since even UK guy can't understand what I write. πŸ˜€
