From the tests I've seen Optane is quite impressive but that price continues to be a important factor though it'll be fun to see reviews of these new models once they're available. 🙂 (Hampered a bit by Intel being a bit indifferent to Europe and sending stuff over here for review purposes though as I understand it.)

i'm in love with the potential of Optane. the reality at these ridiculous prices is another. and that power rating is scorching for an M.2 for those without one of the new mobos with beefy heat sinks.

So these things are SSD's? I didn't even know what the hell optane was. Figured it was just some seriously overpriced server tech being pushed on consumers. Oh wait...

If you don't want it or need it, don't buy it 😉 For me, 900p is perfect and I love it 🙂

The 900P is pretty insane, put one in my son's gaming system, performance is incredible. The 905P is going into my next workstation build as the OS/app drive. Once its built I will post up some benchmarks and impressions.

Am I the only one wondering how that M.2 version is going to fit on most MoBo's, considering how wide it is?

Yeah, not so sure about that. Another issue with Optane is the massive size of the "good" drives. It makes it impossible (at this time) to make a M.2 Optane drive that has both great capacity and industry standard size.

That's a U.2 not M.2. Pretty clear from pics and specs. Can be mounted on an M.2 slot only with an adapter.

ahem...industrial design for the enthusiast market, yet priced for the professional. i guess there is a larger market for 4k video editing and compiling than i thought. i'd buy one of these tout suite if it was under $600

There will be a m.2 version but will be a crippled/nerfed one, its suppose to be released on October. Now you can still use the u.2 with m.2 cable/adapter, thats how the 480gb version sold (one of the three versions).
