It'll be interesting for sure. Will it be a rival to the big boys? Will it bring more competition hence lowering pricing? All yet to be unveiled.

They probably saw all the money being made on the mining craze with the prices not going down and thought hey we need to be in on this.

Hope so. Looks yummy!

They need to ditch the GFX card idea and double down on CPU's. The road they are now on will cost them deeply.

3rd time lucky? cause their last 2 attempts in getting into the discrete graphics market failed measurably!

Set our graphics division chief engineer, Raja Koduri, free, as he made a crappy GPU that can't even compete with AMD's last generation, let alone Nvidia
Fixed the video title.

This is bad! I remember someone saying on this forum that INTEL wants to lock their hardware like what Nvidia does with it's hardware. So we can only run 4K only with a new INTEL chip on NETFLIX? INTEL can only win when they pull shady monopoly stunts like in the past and probably future again. This is why I hate INTEL. Yup gotta love INTEL steal AMD workers and make technology that only works INTEL hardware. INTEL 4Kworks just like Nvidia hairworks lol. There was an article of an old tv series on NETFLIX that needs newer INTEL chips it was posted like 2 years ago. It was a woman's show or something. 7th heaven I think? Not sure if it had to do with audio codec or 2k or 4k video.

Intel was 1st to have Vulkan driver too! But it was only for newest CPU line at time and one which was about to be released. They did not exactly improve that state and 1/2 of iGPUs capable to run Vulkan have no driver for it. Nor did they release appropriate driver as Vulkan API moved forward with new builds/features. They use features as marketing tool. And if there is not much for them to gain from supporting something, they will not do it. If anyone here disliked AMD/nVidia for putting GPUs into legacy category and updating their code paths only if something seriously broke. Wait for intel legacying 1st generation of their dGPUs 3 months after 2nd generation is out. It will be silent, they will simply stop updating them with new features.

My guess would be a flop. they can't compete with Nvidia maybe at the entry market....

IGP replacement card for a minor upgrade. That's it. They want to take the Nvidia and AMD stickers off their OEM gaming PC specials, so they need a cheesy "GPU" to put inside. Honestly I am fully confident this thing won't compete with modern Nvidia gaming cards. Not a chance in hell.

I doubt that's going to be a gaming card. Knowing Intel they probably want to put out a simple workstation card and then cut out their integrated GPU. This will allow them to save money on CPU production and make further profits by selling a separate card.

It was also time that Intel started making a graphics card, I actually thought the thought. 🙂

With intel's approach to iGPUs, I rather have only AMD/nV in the market. And there are quite a few companies which can make return to Performance Desktop GPU competition. ATi selling out "Adreno". PowerVR just hiding. Mali. Rumor that Samsung may be working on GPU architecture of their own... 1st three listed support DX/OpenGL/Vulkan to various degrees. But close enough to newest iteration. Like DX12 feature level 11_1. From available 'contenders' only VIA is technologically far behind and unlikely to even consider return to the race. For example, if there were PowerVR GPUs in mobile (entry level gaming performance), people would just fight over them just for "wow factor".

Well from on the players that can enter few tried to enter mid 2000's xgi and 3dlabs tried to bring back the 3d accelerators! But they failed ...the onlyones tha seem to have any chance of making something noteworthy other than nvidia and amd ...is intel and then sumsung ...mostly because virtually they have unlimited money for rnd.

If they pull it off, there will be a blue team in the gpu market so we can finally have RGB there as well.
