So you paid the KS 200$ more for something that some shop do for extra 50$ on the K...

Boring pseudo-halo product of a boring arch, Zen 4 12C will wreck ADL (and probably also RTL).

you might excuse me for thinking this is stupid. that is, what's stupid is not binning the KF you know the one without the iGPU. even when all cpu prices were higher (pre-Ryzen) that price point is HEDT territory and every buyer of HEDT gear buys a separate GPU. and at this price you're not talking about running internal graphics. what that tells me is that Intel was in full production of 12900K and had less demand than they thought, simply because KF is the natural (and original) top model which they made fewer of. in normal times we'd just say i got the "lottery" winner, but Intel needs (for shareholders) the maximum profit from this generation after years of huge losses in R&D and the unclaimed promises they made during the previous leadership.

as I already posted my early bought retail version of the 12900k has 3 cores reaching 5500 that I see mostly when I do single core cinebench see attached picture in games you most likely won't see it unless you set the game cpu affinity only to those specific cores in which case I did see it

I'm not bragging I'm breaking no records, just saying they already had them and probably got that data back from benchmark tools and other sources so now they are monetizing that or they could really be better but I have my doubts mine is not a "good" cpu btw, buildozid made a video explaining how overclockers binned their cpus and mine has a crap number 82 when "golden" cpus are 100+ he has a 90 something from memory oh and what I wanted to say is that yes I see 254watts running cinebenchr23 but in gaming it's usually below 200watts and thats only for high fps games in slower games the cpu is more like 60-120watts

Binning the KF would be shoting in the feet, it would make a faster CPU around the K not binned one. Good for us but not good for Intel 🙂 But i think that you can pre bin yourself the KF and already bypass the KS 🙂

thanks it's actually very informative. are you going to go Meteor Lake?
data/avatar/default/avatar32.webp
I'm cheating it's in the menu but you can see what some 12900k can already do and where the 5500 come from HUGE THANK YOU to the afterburner + rivatuner team without their work and that live feedback it was too complicated to fine tune game performance 3090 isn't watercooled anymore on this picture, it's going to be...again...later but after a 1st scare I'm not too keen on redoing that

It's good that Intel released this chip. Doesn't matter if it's a Keep Spending edition, its still good for the future. That means Raptor Lake's P cores should also clock very well. Remember 8086K-->9900k usually clocked as good with 2 extra cores. 9900KS ->10900k often clocked better at lower vcore, again with 2 extra cores. So that's good news for 12900KS ->13900K's Golden Cove cores.

Yeah. Its just with this "thin bin" you are guaranteed to win the silicon lottery. This KS cpu is pretty niche and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to the average gamer.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/248/248994.jpg
Doesn't this KS model existing mean that considerably less people are going to win the silicon lottery again with newer 12900K CPUs? After all, doesn't Intel pick the best chips for the KS? It might leave a sour taste in the mouths of new customers considering a 12900K, if it's indeed like that. Not that they still wouldn't get what was promised, but the possibility of a golden sample is reduced, if not removed.

Just for reference my 70 SP 12700k needs 1.42v at 5.2ghz all p-core + 4.1ghz e-core, 1.45v for 5.3 on 6 p-cores, 1.49v for 5.4ghz on 4 p-cores, and 1.52v for 5.5ghz on 2 p-cores. Hyperthreading is enabled too.
data/avatar/default/avatar30.webp
This is nothing new. Like Amd 1700x and 1800x Average 1800x overclocked 100-150mhz more than 1700x. Memory controller tend to be a bit better on the 1800x too. Atleast with the samples I tried. 12900ks is pay to win, but some people wil still bin 12900ks too 😀 I have normal 12900k with sp 108 p-core 5.4Ghz all core @ 1.34v load. The average 12900ks wil be lower than that I believe.

Every 12900K I have owned did 5400Mhz all Core, even sold one for $1500 Bucks,I can not wait to see what the 12900KS sell for.

What sp? Almost every sp80+ can do 5400mgz all core. The difference is v-core needed.

Not impressed. Worse than my 12900K with 99 SP P core and 82(iirc) E cores
