So aside from a slight speed bump is this going to bring anything new to the table?

Better OC'ing, Better Motherboards. Everything Refined. Great for us not on Haswell yet. And even possibly great for those that are that want to take their OC'ing further.

Can't imagine the OC will be much better tbh anyone on Sandybridge and lower might be worth there while, but Ivy Bridge or Haswell this is probably worth missing, isn't Broadwell out later this year! Better off waiting for that if its out this year also.

It will be better by a fair margin. If you read 14nm....new motherboard chipset as well. Less heat = higher OC values possible. This will be a great upgrade for Ivy Bridge. I'll take 14nm any day. This is what Haswell should have been.

I would not call it great upgrade. It is probably barely noticeable difference clock to clock. We do not know at all if the 14nm process is good for overclocking. Leakage might skyrocket after some point.

Not at all interested tbh. I think my upgrade path will be as usual, skip the next chipset.

i'd like to see 5.5ghz being the norm I think before I upgrade my i7...otherwise dont much see the point tbh...

Pretty sure its still 22nm, 14nm will be what broadwell will be based on. I'll wait and see what Broadwell brings, otherwise it'll no doubt be Skylake for me that'll be a brand new arch on 14nm 🙂

heard skylake will be 6 core an offer pci-e 4.0

Cool! Hope its 6 Cores at least, getting bored buying quads now lol I think it'll be DDR4, not sure about PCI Express 4

If that is the case then I'd agree. I was probably thinking of Broadwell.

I don't even know what I'm going to do anymore now. I need to get something soon, but I don't know if I should wait or not. I've waited for... I don't even know how long now. If I wait a whole lot longer, I'll probably be helping Intel design it :bang:

Still got my 920 and X58 and 660gtx going works great still for almost all games "I" play Short of SWtor but that is the game ****ty engine fault. By time I actual make new build the Stock current gen i7 will probably run circles around my i7 @ stock if they dont already

Same here but i have mine since the beginning running at 4Ghz, hope it can hold at least until 2016. As mentioned above i also agree that these will be mostly just a refresh with barely any significant improvements when compared with the currently available in the market.

Until DDR4 becomes mainstream there's no point upgrading for current 1150/1155 users. Interesting to see what OC result will be like seeing as the VRMs are back where they belong. Hope IHS fluxless solder is a standard again.

Baby Jesus says "Wait for Haswell-E, i7 8/12 core CPUs, the x99 chipset with DDR4 support, fool!" Or, just ignore him; wait for DDR4, and buy what your budget allows.

Yeah, I'm worried that intel is going to make them pricey. I can't spend much more than $1,200 on an entire rig.

Why not get the 4770k? It should last you a long time.

Yeah I too will be using my 920 for some time. I have no incentive to upgrade .. I'm only looking forward to Rocksteady's next game, rest of the Walking dead episodes, and South Park. Maybe "Mad Max" by Avalanche as well.
