My mobo uefi is already ready for this 🤓 Well I would swap mine if it were a crappy OC'er, but I can't complain @ 4.6Ghz - 1.228v or 4.7Ghz @ 1.274v Although that improved TIM and better gluing sounds nice.

it about time to improve the tim. still nothing rivals the core i7 from Sandy Bridge and on...

I'd go out on a pretty sturdy limb to say these. I'm frickin in if it doesn't cost all of the fingers on my left hand.

It will cost the same as 4770K, performance is also the same, only 100mhz faster. Now it all depends how far will it oc, 5ghz with ease or max avg 4.6-4.8ghz., instead of 4.2-4.4ghz avg by 4770k.

Im guessing it will still use LGA1150?

Would be good to see Sandy Bridge OC level.

Still happy with my 3770k at 4.8. I got a good over clocker so I am not gonna even look at these.

There was never anything wrong with the tim to begin with. It was the gap between the cpu die and the ihs that was the problem.

yes and no... from last info, old and new 1150 i3 i5 i7 will work on chipset 9* but new will not work on chipset 8* (sound like "hey yeah change the mobo to make us gain more money" unless some tweak is possible (bios?)).

If oc are as high as sandy bridge I may bite for a cheap upgrade.

If you have a delided 3770k/4770k or even the i5 delided your already set as these want be any faster just small stock MHz boost and the tim difference which not sure what they have done....but id say if you have a solid oc'r and a delided chip it doesn't get much better than that...also highly doubt these will clock higher should be about the same...

According to who? ps my Z87 mobo is already ready for this and by the looks of it Broadwell too, all it took was uefi update. 😉 firmware update ME 9.0.2.1345 to 9.0.30.1482 EC MBE0-Z87-0224 to MBE0-Z87-227 Edit: MSI announced it first, then Asus, last but not least Gigabyte. The only real difference Z87 vs 97 is that pcie-sata and newer ME (intel management engine) & EC (intel Rapid stuff). Not that I cared much, just letting others with Z87 know it will work fine and Broadwell should too, even intel CEO/PR confirmed that, he said "you can plug it into existing systems (z87, h87,etc) or brand new systems (z97, h97,etc), with broad new range of fanless designs".. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeDtXucTwRI&feature=player_detailpage#t=23

Pointless upgrade as x99 is coming in June. Why would you buy a refresh so close to x99.....?

I don't see why It couldn't be a bios update. Because since is just a refresh, it won't support anything new. I like my maximus VI impact in my pocket pc lol. Since 1150 has only got the 8* chipset. I'm sure the 9* will have benefits but not enough to be a forced switch.

Yea. I thought it would just be a bios/uefi update as well.
