This is just sad.

Cards are not even out yet and this is already looking underwhelming.

Bye Intel 🙂

LOL is this yet another Intel Bluewash to force system integrators to use only Intel components? Clowns

well i guess if you have a top notch motherboard with a high en cpu in ...this card makes almost no sense .... but still leaving out amd ... limiting the compatibility to their own not latest products and not all of em .... is like they do not want to sell the thing :/

I suspect this is just teething for Intel's new department, and this will be the exception and not the rule, but what terrible timing considering the state of GPUs right now. We have 2 Ryzen rigs and a bunch of older Intel rigs. I guess we won't be getting one. Not that we were planning on it, but I didn't expect this.

Could be a smart business decision if Intel can make there GPU/CPU work well. Someone said bye intel maybe its Bye Nvidia

let me understand this intel is purposely castrating them self and card self by making it need special bios? I really would love to see how intel brain works

Intel as usual against the grain.

Nah, still bye bye Intel. Shoot themselves in the foot to spite their own face. Smh. I can only assume this is an initial hiccup. If this is their intention throughout their GPU business model, I see no point in ever purchasing another Intel product again.

Smart move how ? By limiting the ability to use one of your own products while both cpetitors work across all your products ?

The only 2 strategies left for INTEL is 1.) Pour sugar in Lisa's gas tank ;-) or 2.) Give Lisa a large amount of money to drop AMD and work for INTEL.

The only reason i can think of is: the card is OEM only, and has to stay OEM only. If is compatible with any MB it means that people can pull it off and put it normal computers. At some point someone can unlock this videocard with a special bios and make it normal. I cannot even imagine how you can lock down a standard videocard from working on motherboards.

What a way to go. Whitelisting. One thing people hate on laptops, when manufacturer does it. Because then, people have trouble even replacing wifi or getting LTE card.

Looks like Intel always had a hobbies to screw up..... 🙁:(;):D

It's dead before it even arrived. Great practice to try and lock down a system. I guess they thought that in prebuilt PCs for office it will be all peachy, but no one will buy it as a standalone card, making the product basically irrelevant. Even IBM didn't have enough hubris to lock down modern day PCs to accept only their own HW, but somehow 40 years later, Intel has decided that they can.

What the fu...!? Either Intel is going to solve this with new BIOS release for this graphics card ot else it's DOA. No way most motherboard manufacturers would bother to release new BIOS updates for bunch of EOL Z390 based motherboards, probably not even for most Z490 boards, not to mention 2xx and 1xx chipset generation. Also not compatible with Ryzen platform, wth!? It should be resolved by Intel themselves, period. Either Intel is goin to make propper BIOS for those DG1 GPU graphics cards before release date or else they just wasted time, human resources and money on this. How somehing like this could happen in this time and age, it's just insane.

and to think I might have considered buying one some day.

I think this is how they solved it. Is not that there is something to solve here, they decided it can run just on restricted OEM partners. The reason behind it probably purely commercial and not technical

Its probably a garbage card that performs extremely poorly, so this isn't really an issue. If they actually do this as a business model for all their GPU's though no one is going to buy these cards, quite literally.
