are they pulling a Ryzen 3000 here ? with fake burst frequencies that don't hold ? because here's my 12900k with ASUS "ai optimized" auto overclocking feature and using XMP1 (asus optimized ddr settings) and I already have a "5.5" cpu check core#3 max freq
as usual with auto-oc things it has way too high voltage (1,43 sometimes more) but with less than 1 week with it I wanted results now
even if that one core can hold that frequency..if the others can't it's still a 5.2ghz cpu, unless Intel starts bundling their cpu with process lasso and a tutorial on how to cpu affinity your single threaded application specifically to that core
that's with corsair icue running you can add 100-200 to the multi score without all my rgb stuff running
redone without icue 4.x running and added HWinfo
I stand corrected it actually does go to 5.5Ghz
now I have yet to see a game use this but I'll try to specify my 3 cores that apparently can reach 5.5ghz and we'll see if it holds during actual use which I doubt
not at all, unless you do something stupid like destroying your cpu with an all core overclock that only benefits your e-pen
1) intel 700-900k are gaming cpus if you do 3d rendering or use application that have 100% cpu usage you bought the wrong hardware it's on you, buy a 5950x they are the best jack of all trades
2) since they are gaming cpus those 250W+ that are real...you will never see in normal usage because games use the gpu more than the cpu
3) 99% of the time the intel wattage is lower than AMD, on the desktop surfing watching videos, playing light on gpu or old games you will rarely see 100W with this sometimes 5.5ghz overclock I'm idling at 18watts my "mandatory to properly work" tweaked 5950x was idling at 40-70w and was in the 100+ as soon as you did anything...Intel don't do that, and if you have a custom loop that's a pretty big downside of AMDs because it's constantly pre-heating your liquid
4) on gpu heavy games ultra HQ yeah you will see 180-200w "omg"...not...gpus are 400+ and we can live with it
this had 49fps on an OC 5950x idling at 40-70watts
the ONLY scenario where amds are better is on 100% cpu usage for everything else they are worse
X570 is way better than Z690 but that's another matter
my gpu is nerfed to 350w and stock clocks so my 3dmarks are meaningless currently from 390->350 I lost 4000 points in wildlife extreme ><
I will post benchmarks later I just setup auto-oc in bios and after several reboots the "asus bios AI" gave me 5.5 on 3 cores (5.2 all cores) I did not want it nor tried to have that
that's the point of my messages here
regular 12900k can already do 5.5 on some cores in some situations when properly cooled (and with too high voltages for my taste)
redone without icue 4.x running and added HWinfo
g.skill 6000 36 ddr5 btw
