Only just bought Haswell lol.

No big deal. Intel chips are not as interesting anymore since improvements are now focused towards power savings over performance.

So true, the i7 2600k is still a relic.

Less power = less heat So I'm all for that for both OC'ing potential and running fanless.

Sums up my thoughts...

Progress comes in many forms. If I can get the same performance out of a chip that uses 30% less power than older tech, I consider that a win! Intel and AMD(Especially AMD!) has the performance factor down(AMD needs to catch up a tid bit truthfully), now they just need to get the power, heat, and price per production(AMD has this) down. Intel still has not got that last one all the way... Like I said, the new chip may use 30% less power but costs the same if not more than the last chip. Spending that cost to save some power, that part is not worth it! AMD has it pretty good. Their APU's and lower series Bulldozers are near performance of higher costing chips from last gen, and have a good reflecting price. Power draw is not cool though AMD. You wouldn't want a chip that has x2 the performance of the last gen chip, but uses x4 the power and produces x4 the heat would you?

That's certainly not the case for Haswell!

As I've said before, I wont be bothering until Skylake, and maybe not even then. At least with Skylake we'll be looking at a new socket / DDR4 and other advances.

skylake should have quad core minimum (i3) and 6 core mainstream i5's and i7's -__-

We can but hope. I'm past the point where I'm interested in quad cores tbh. The alternative is quite a bit more expensive unless AMD step up their game.

Q1 2014 and that's a delay! Haswell only just came out lol Intel are really pushing for the mobile segment now aren't they! I guess that's where the markets been shifting now for a while they need to get involved in that space or have the trouble MS is having getting into mobiles and tablets. As for me, I've only had IB about a year now so I have no upgrade needs. Well CPU RAM and Motherboard wise anyway, I'll wait for Haswell E (Probably cost to much for me) or look into Skylake, in the meantime I want 1440p Monitor and a 2nd WC 7970 for my gaming pleasure 😉

Well it's big market to not have mobile business is suicide, looking at you AMD Desktop sales declining year upon year

Q1 2014 ... Financial or Calendar year :-S Anyway, let's see what this new chip can do. 4.x GHz is more than adequate for me. 4+ cores would be welcome too! No way I'm spending the money that the X79/X99 would require me to spend!

I couldn't care less for CPU at this stage. All games are pushing GPUs to limits, even folding is not more efficient with GPUs. I just don't see any strong demands for CPU processing. Would be interested to see more affordable 4P systems...
