I sure hope am5 socket is as versatile as am4. friend of mine just upgraded from a ryzen 2600 to a 5600x and he didn't have to change anything else....except for the new 3060ti. nice easy upgrade for him. Hey, am I correct to say Ryzen 7000 series only supports ddr5? Could that hinder them in the short-term? ($)....I know.....>I ask too many questions! Grrrr.....:D
AM5 is confirmed as DDR5 only. AMD will reportedly continue supporting AM4 alongside AM5. Most of the people that will jump on AM5 in the short term, are early adopters. Majority of people will wait a few months and let AMD start working out bugs in the firmware before jumping over while others will wait for DDR5 prices to come down a bit. AMD and Intel should both have the bugs worked out by the time I upgrade again, since that should be around 14th/15th Gen for Intel or 8000 series for AMD.... I don't really see any reason to rush to upgrade for DDR5 unless you're still on DDR3.
