Even if Zen only reaches 30% increase in single core performance instead of the promised 40% then i think it will still sell a huge amount of 8c/16t chips. People are starting to care less about single core performance especially gamers whom have upgraded to Win 10 and expect Multi-Core performance to finally overtake single core performance. A 40% increased 8c/16t Zen will worry Intel and boy they should be scared especially if AMD can keep the price down of their top Black Edition model. IF Zen 8c/16t is 30-40% faster and it's £200-£250 pound for the top unlocked edition then it won't matter what Intel does. All AMD fans will buy it. Some on release and more down the line once it's matured, AM4 that is. Seriously, think about it. Who still uses many single core apps/programs? Is there any new apps/programs coming out now that doesn't use multi-threading on Win 10 system, i doubt it and why would you care. Unless of course you use the PC as a workstation and use a lot of time compressing and such.
Too optimistic about an AMD product. Take it ALWAYS with a grain of Salty Super Salt. I would say Equal performance for a smaller price.

I think anyone expecting Zen to be an "Intel killer" is going to be sadly disappointed.
Well I don't expect it to, but at least I hope they catch up to intel and finally get back into the game because it's getting silly, ever since the Core 2 Duo/Quad came to life, AMD has lost its edge. And back then their GPU's could also compete with NVIDIA. Currently it looks like their DX12 implementation is better then NVIDIA, but that doesn't really matter when your competitor smashes your face in with sheer performance, making all that DX12 bit pointless as well. To be fair, I think Intel is keeping their prices reasonable if we compare them to NVIDIA... NVIDIA: Prices similar or equal to AMD in the range of cards where performance is equal, but in the high end segment the prices suddenly sky rocket.

360 euros is still very expensive for a CPU which is almost identical to the previous generation. Where there is a monopoly prices go up. Nvidia became almost a monopoly prices immediately went up. 500 euros for a mid range card is not a good price at all. ~ +100 euros since GTX 9xx. Intel's CPUs also went upstairs with the price lately. An i5 costed 200-220 euros and an i7 300-320. Now they cost +50 euros more on average (depending on country but prices went up for everyone).
So upgrade every five generations and you don't have "oh dooh its the same as last time" dilema. And the price point, i am no expert but what about depreciation? You know 320€ eight years ago has roughly the same value like 360€ today etc. And can you imagine i7 for 200€? AMD would go bye bye.

i7 6700k has definitely gone up in price. I got mine for about £270 end of May this year. ocuk has it for £311 atm and that kind of price has been the same since around Brexit time.

Overclocking will be a joke on this one. How much more you think this will chip will go when its already boosting to 4.5ghz?

4.6-4.8 on average I would say. Much like Devils Canyon. But will be great out of the box performance. Don't understand this part to be honest. Maybe it will push down Skylake SKU's.

Even if Zen boosts only up to 3.4-3.6 (and AMD has never been shy with frequencies), it will basically be more or less the same IPC and frequency as the i7-6800K, with an extra two cores on top. If it's priced at around $300-$350 it will make socket 2011v3 obsolete for 99% of the normal consumers. The only wishful thinking in my post is the pricing. I can't see them not hitting these frequencies with the 95W part, and I was impressed with how low-key the AMD presentation was, so I'm expecting it to equal/exceed Broadwell-E's IPC.
