Pappa pia! That's one ice cool p-p-processor.

7ghz! Holy cow! It's crazy thesedays the clockspeeds that can be achieved. I remember when a 1.4ghz CPU was fast! lol

i would like to see those ocing "records" to be on all cores, w HT enabled. even if almost no one will cool with LN2 or ice for more than a bench, but shutting down 80% of a cpu to get there, is not really a record to me.

Kaby Lake is going to be fun to OC! All cores active he managed 6.7GHz in Wprime1024, this wasn't even a binned chip, just straight up retail, so given more time and binning these results will only get better All done on Ln2, will try buy myself one in the new year!

I had a 500MHz Pentium III when I was little, had it always at 800MHz. Last game it played was Battlefield 2 - below spec but often top ranking :P

On only 2 Cores. Fail.

When someone makes a commercial easy to install all in one cooling system that is also affordable, let us know. Until then nice for its 40 seconds of fame but totally useless in the real world.

It would be perfect for gaming... 7 Ghz is an amazing achievement! I guess the 50% overclock we knew back in the days of the Pentium 3 and 4 and the Athlon X2 is still achievable 🤓

nope it is not for everyday use, it is for record... if i remember the top were reached with only 1 core only for years (and with pentium or celeron, i dont remember well).

it's like dragster or formula E, the result make everyday family's car more reliable and economic (engine without head cam, battery that last longer etc etc...) . not so useless 🙂

And yet people were like "why would anyone want to buy an unlocked i3?"

Agree you from an R&D perspective but unless those guys feedback that 7 GHZ data back to Intel, it won't help them to improve. Same as car guys doing it on their own versus factory backed efforts. I remember there were some Overclockers who now work at tech companies (Asrock and EVGA) and that helped a lot in making better durable MB and components. But not sure if any overclocker are actually working at Intel, AMD or even ARM to help them with CPU refinement. Maybe only the NSA and CIA are paying for top OC performance but thats "classified" and will never reach consumer hands easily. 😀

Yep , Allen does it again 🙂 , good overclocker.

It's Superpi 32M, not 2M! And FYI negative Nancies, this 4m 20s is the new world record. :wanker: :wanker:

The improvements are seen on Xeon. 2017 being the year of 32 core chips, is still impressive.

Where is the record? yesterday i saw AMD FX over 8GHz with more active threads STUPID RECORD FOR A STUPID "UPDATE" then now people starts to talk bad about Zen and good of Intel since they pays to everybody -_-

So basically a 7 GHz, Skylake Pentium. Cool I guess.
