Seeing as PCIe 4.0 devices are still a bit uncommon and x16 slots are a looooong way away from being saturated (are there even any M.2 devices that saturate 4.0?), I don't see this as a problem at all, so long as there is a significant enough price drop. If it went to PCIe 3.0, that would be pretty crappy.

if this helps on keep in prices low.. oh wait no way :\

Zero excuse when b550 has it. And boards not Z boards dont support overclocking, etc.

Huh? B550 doesn't have PCIe 5.0. These days, overclocking is almost pointless, as most CPUs are pushed nearly to the limits and will down-throttle based on your cooling anyway.

Is 4.0 even being used fully yet? Seems like a feature to simply brag about having.

yes,on nvme drives

I wouldn't expect DDR5 to be removed, as the move of memory VRMs to the modules theoretically even makes mainboards simpler, while PCIe5 requires quite extensive additional validation.

Not as bad as a lacking 3000 series GPU due to fake shortage prices.

I'll just be happy if GPU prices return to Normal, i wanted to get an RTX card with my system refresh in June 2020, but sadly couldn't afford one, so settled for a Geforce 1660 Super from Evga, and upgraded PC case, Motherboard and CPU instead, and was like i'll just upgrade later to a RTX card if prices are ever reasonable Using B460M-DS3H motherboard, and Intel 10700 chip May upgrade later to B560M-DS3H at some point so i can use faster DDR 4 ram if supported

Fully used, though? I don't know of any M.2 drives that saturate all 4x PCIe 4.0 lanes. I'm not saying there aren't any, but I feel we're still a bit far from that at the moment.

i meant 4.0 drives are faster than 3.0 drives well, but that could very well be just a new controller and nand, not just the bus at least to a large degree

not for a long time man I waited for a year, and finally bought a 3060ti at 650eur I advise you to do the same.In terms of money spent for upgrade I pretty much striked even. The gtx1070 I bought for 150eur went for nearly 350eur.It'd cost 300eur to upgrade a 150eur gtx1070 to a 450eur 3060ti gigabyte gaming too. Your 1660S won't sell at msrp too,it's gonna be at least 380eur for the new owner to buy it from you.
