Lol small typo as to when intel expects it to be worth 25 billion USD, unless they are playing mega long game?

Intel's gonna spread themselves thin again I see by buying things they don't need. Ok.

Why not stick to what you know and strengthen it ? The money they are pouring elsewhere could go into what looks like a failing GPU card. What do I know? Hope they bounce back because In tel is better than Out tel for better competitive prices 😀 ' deep learning accelerators ' apply to the staff please 😛

AI is a very different field, and AMD CPUs don't even play in it. Its Intel vs. AI-optimized GPUs vs. dedicated AI chips.

my comment had nothing to do with AMD or AI vs AI, it was more along the lines of Intel Pretend they have nothing to worry about from anyone or anything

isnt that people been saying intel need to re-inventing new things ? yet now people saying opposite, to just stick on "old-tradition" ? while other company (nvidia, ibm, samsung, toshiba, huawei etc) been actively developing it desktop cpu probably their main product, yet desktop sales pretty much stagnant for last few years anyway but different story for those smartphone chipset, iot devices this : https://www.statista.com/statistics/263393/global-pc-shipments-since-1st-quarter-2009-by-vendor/ VS. https://www.statista.com/statistics/471264/iot-number-of-connected-devices-worldwide/ which make more money ?

It's because of Intel's history - they haven't had much luck expanding out from their core business, and people see this as yet another futile attempt. There's also the recent competition from AMD; it might be better if Intel focused on the immediate threat to their core business instead of spreading themselves thin. I think this is the Swan influence. He said that they now want to focus on gaining 30% in the overall silicon space (instead of trying to maintain their 90% CPU market) and so this acquisition is in line with that vision. We'll have to wait and see if this new strategy bears out.
