That makes sense - release a product, where specifically your part is upgradeable, resulting in good chance of future purchases.
In terms of ecology, it makes much more sense than absence of phone chargers or "eco" packaging for stuff with lithium batteries.
I like this idea, and add graphics cards in the same kind of packaging (which we'll probably see when Intel releases their GPUs) On the other hand, RIP employee laptop repurchase program.
