If we have 6400 now, i struggle to believe we won't have 7200 before 2025.

Meanwhile, I got 64 GB of "gamer" DDR4 in 2016 for about 200 euros, and now I can only get 32 GB of DDR5 for the same amount of money. Six years of involution. How is this not utterly f*** up !?

I suppose it's about 32Gb chips, so 4GB, so 128GB modules

I think 16gb will still be good for gaming for some time considering the consoles have 16gb total for system and gpu combined

2016 was a good year to buy RAM - you actually paid extra because of it being a pretty fresh technology yet the S&D was totally different back then, so it wasn't that expensive. But with much higher demand, lower supply, ECC, and inflation, you're going to pay a lot more. I suspect DDR5 prices will significantly drop by next year. Even if S&D and inflation wasn't a thing, you'd still be paying more because of ECC.
