Would need to be 5120 × 2880 PER eye to be called a 5K. Takes 4 2560x1440 screens to make a single 5 K screen. I see what their marketing team does, They take the horizontal from both screens and add them together...Such a scam, these are 2.5k you dont double the res by opening an eye lolololol

its tv makers that started changing it, by using a different axis than before. FHD tvs are named 2k (1920), so it doesnt look too bad when comparing them with their newer stuff doing 4/8k, as you dont want to sell ppl a 1k (1080) tv... so they just went and applied it to their stuff. one reason i hate when those ultrawide screens are called 4k, when its running XXXX x 900.

Actually the problem started with the whole 4K misnomer. Probably the marketeers didn't want to go the 2160p route, so they took the 3840 horizontal resolution and rounded it up to make it 4K. Maybe they should have gone the digital camera route and called it 8.3 Mega Pixels instead. HD could then be called 2.1 Mega Pixels and the new 8K could then be called 33.2 Mega Pixels That at least would give you a better idea of how much bigger each standard is related to the previous one.

Lol ... "Affordable"

Looks pretty weak as "affordable" vs the old Reverb G2, with an already GPU wrecking 2160 x 2160 per eye at 90hz but on sale prices of $300 to $500.
