Looks like a good gaming laptop (the lowest model), Gsync always is welcome, and the price tag is right. On the other hand, it weights about double what MSI's new laptops weight with comparable stats (they have this new Max-Q design), but they are about 10% more expensive too.

Lets hope that the cooling solution in the laptop is upto the task when OCing....

My 17" ASUS Strix with a 1070 is overkill on its 1080p G-sync display. The 1080 is unnecessary unless it's 4k. I can overclock my 1070 as well but can't do anything with my 7700hq (though I did undervolt it by 125mv to help with temps). I only paid $1,450 for this laptop.

Hmm thanks for the input, I plan to buy a gaming laptop in about two years but have lost touch with what's happening in the field. Actually I thought that MSI was the way to go, but I guess it depends on pricing (can't get the Asus for that money here unfortunately).

MSI was originally what I was looking at but I could get so much more for my money with ASUS or HP. I'm not paying the RGB tax on a laptop.

Absolutely true. The only other thing I noticed is that apparently MSI are the first to incorporate the "max-q" design which is supposed to make for thinner and lighter laptops.

Dell and Lenovo actually both have pretty decently priced gaming laptops as well. I guess they have to at this point to keep up with the market. Razer sells, but only because of name(Not that the hardware and build quality are bad at all, they're actually built very well!).

If I was buying a laptop I'd buy this one probably: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/msi-16l13-eurocom-tornado-f5-evoc-16l-g-1080-15-6-owners-lounge.797128/ If you want best performance & don't mind a bit of tinkering to optimise it, then it's one of the best laptops you can get - although HIDevolution can do a lot of tinkering for you before it's shipped - like a delidded CPU, modded bottom cover for better airflow, etc, etc.

nice job HP, way to up your game. now if it had a better audio solution, lost some weight, and had some plastic (lol) surgery, it would be as sexy as my MSI GE62 MVR 7RG 😉
