Woohoo, now can I recreate this in KSP?

When i first saw this i thought it was faked. Now i know it was done for real and with that size of a rocket to.(not fake but just reversed film of the take off). This is not the first successful return landing of a rocket main engines but it is the first on this scale. The payload of F9 was astronomical, releasing a massive 12-14 Satellites all while saving the most expensive part of the craft(main engines). The computing power that must of been used to land a rocket back down to earth must also be immense. This could totally change space flight and make it cheap enough(eventually) for most to try their hand at space itself. The rocket even landed on the bulls-eye near perfectly which is amazing considering it was only minutes since it was at the edge of space. To practice this re-landing of Rockets they used unmanned huge ships miles out in the ocean and the falling rockets would land on the deck of the empty ships, that's quite amazing on it's own.

Possible to do in Kerbal Space Program? P.S. Now I can at least think of affording space travel.

Yes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9I55o8hQgs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcjqTdMUO-k more or less 😉

Second person saying something similar, just how much does this project save? Surely if you replace a single use device with a multi use device you also in turn have to funnel a fair amount of cash in to the maintenance and servicing of the re-useable vehicle? Anyone have any idea what the actual cost savings are going to be?

No one knows because like you said, no one knows how much it costs to refurbish, retest and revalidate the first stage. Elon said the rocket costs $16M to manufacturer and supposedly the fuel cost is only $200K (at least that's the number being thrown around on reddit). So even if it costs $8M to refurbish that's still a pretty huge savings per launch.
