Vu+ has released their Solo 4K a few weeks ago which apparently has HDMI 2.0.

@z7x HDMI 2.0 is mostly irrelevant for use with tvs. they do UHD (3840x2160 @24/25/30Hz) not native 4K (4096x2160), and most movies/videos arent shot at 60fps anyway. and someone that uses a tv for gaming, well... unless connected to a native 4K tv/projector, which normally run around $10K, more than 30Hz is not really needed. And people that spend that kind of cash on a tv (or expensive gaming/workstation moni), wont run this box...

Nah, HDMI 2.0 will do 2160p or true 4K at 60hz. HDMI 2.0 is relevant because that is the currently the standard for UHD content on TVs. Quite a few of the most recent 4K TV's work quite well gaming unless you're a pro CS:GO/twitch shooter player and then you wouldn't be running at that high of res anyway.

I'm sorry, $300 EUROS for this thing? The chipset is severely underpowered for a set-top box application, and it released over a year ago at this point. I don't even think it has a GPU integrated; it doesn't list support for OpenGL ES or anything else. It only lists being able to decode HEVC and other standard video formats. It's a dual-core Cortex-A9 clocked @ 1.2GHz with a video decoder; something that's more designed for integration into digital signage applications, not a consumer set-top box product. For $400 CAD, you could get yourself a NUC or an MSI Cubi. Perhaps I'm missing something, but this seems like a complete ripoff.

I have no 4k and will not have the money in the near future. I have HDMI 2.0 (980 Ti) What i have understand is the new HDCP standard not set, and its not said if it can be upgraded to current hardware that support HDMI 2.0 not even older versions. Is there any new info out on however we can, or not can play new content on current HDMI outputs in 4k when the new HDCP standard i set or do we have to change all the hardware one more time?

sigma vs nvidia nvidia shield seems to have better specs and lower price. i know sigma has nice chips that somehow enhances the videos, but does nvidia (at least tegra x1) do that? I know nvidia (and amd) supports software enhancements and has some hardware enhancements for videos on pc cards, but does that apply to tegra x1 and are these enhancements stand up to sigma's? And even if sigma is better, does not having hdmi 2.0 444 support negate that?

Haha exact same thing happened to me

The nVidia Shield TV with the powerful X1 Tegra CPU is only £129 and is way more performant. shield.nvidia.co.uk/android-tv

@HeavyHemi i say 2.0 is "irrelevant" for UHD tv's, because +95% cant do native 4K (4096x2160) but do 3840x2160@24/25/30Hz, which is supported by hdmi 1.4, and almost all MOVIEs/content is running at 24/30Hz, so for 80-90% of the UHD market it wont do anything. and if you plan on gaming on UHD tv's: please show me (measured, not manufacturer) spec of a TV (not moni), that doesnt have more than 20ms input lag... i tried on of the vizio's (measured 30ms) and its horrible not matter if desktop or gaming, even for me who is NOT getting paid to play games...
