Damn, a full game port would be amazing

With HL2, most enjoyable part of engine was audio anyway. Same goes for portal. I do not think it can be ported.

Looks great, I wish all the best to the development team. Hopefully, the project won't bog down, or halfway through getting cancelled by Valve.

WTF ... that is good. I thought you guys were exaggerating before I clicked that :P

OMFG. I want.

Looks good, but if it will retain the same primitive mechanics, weapons/combat of the 1998 game, no thanks.

Valve had no problem with Black Mesa Source (save for some naming reservations), so I don't think they'll have a problem with this.

It won't be the same without the glitches 🙁

Looks pretty good, I truly admire the teams that take upon themselves to do these engine upgrades of classic games. It's a huge amount of work, and not only do they not "get" anything out of it, but often get harassed by the original developers/copyright owners with lawsuits. Good luck to them!

You would think this game engine is proprietary to nvidia it has such a hand in its development.
That's bad news for any competitors and they mostly sit idle when running this engine.
Im lucky to get over 50% on this Unreal engine.
Real shame it was once really good.

I wonder how would Black Mesa play into an "open world" game, instead of "on the rail" gameplay in the original (common to the games of that era).
Basically, one could walk anywhere there is an open door, break other breakable doors and windows or find alternate routes to any place that exists.
Also, characters would be AI-driven NPC's that move around, not just sit in the same place until the player reaches them.
You could choose to be Gordon or Barney or one of the other scientists and guards, or you could be Shephard or some other military guy.
Heck, you could even be G-Man for once 🙂
And the game could start before the events of HL1, so you can play as the (unarmed) scientist for a while, messing up equipment and doing random shit 😉
The technology to do so exists, now with our superfast computers and capability of having games of 100 GB or more, having a "1-level" Black Mesa is certainly possible.
Too bad the required work to do that would be enormous, and most likely very costly.
And since Valve will very likely not do it... I wonder who can ?
One can only hope.

Some video of it, for anyone interested

It looks nice, but what is the point really? You get to ride the train into the base. If it was the whole game things might be different.

This is how I remember playing it the first time around!

Would love to see someone do Skyrim using the Unreal 4 engine

Jeez! Just how many HL 'remakes' are we going to have to suffer before a TRUE Half Life game is made?
RzrTrek
Black Mesa is the only worthy recreation of Half-Life and it shouldn't be long now before Xen is ready for release...
SpajdrEX
This remake i would expect from Valve, not by doing it someone else in the first place, but i guess Valve just hoarding money via their STEAM service and not interested to do any new games, especially not HL3 or even remakes.

Ditto as other Guru's have said - looks great, but I really want the Black Mesa team to finish Xen, then remake HL2 in the same style and then finish up HL3 for the Holy Trinity!!!
I don't care WHAT engine it runs on, even if it runs on GZ Doom, eDuke, or even Cryengine! Just finish HL3 already!!!
