I have the PS3 version pre-ordered but even with the next-gen consoles looming on the horizon it's hard for me not to be excited and hyped up about this amazing sounding game. It looks incredible in the trailers I've seen, granted there's not that many of them, and it certainly promises to be the most indepth open world game yet in terms of things to do. The larger size does worry me a little as I was one of the few people who didn't like San Andreas that much because it felt too big and empty (plus I found the characters and story unlikeable too, which didn't help).
I just hope that I'm not disappointed with the latest game. I don't expect to be, this is Rockstar after all, but all the same I'm feeling a nervous that the game might not live up to expectations. Hyped up games have a tendency to do that, unfortunately. It's hard to believe the game is only a week away now.

I'll probably pick it up for the PC when it's on sale, I'm more than happy to wait. I'm of an opinion that the GTA series was surpassed by other open world games a good while ago, and by multiple titles at that. GTA4 annoyed the hell out of me at times, despite my wanting to like it.

"The new game revolves around a satirical recreation of southern California. With players able to switch between three protagonists, the 49-square-mile world boasts a welter of activities, such as scuba diving with sharks and hijacking trains."
So basically they've gone further into trying to be more like a movie and the Sims.
I can't really say I'm excited, especially not anywhere near when I first played Vice City or San Andreas.

Sadly I have not played any GTA since San Andreas. Don't mind picking this up though if it doesn't run like crap.

$265M budget? How much you guys wanna bet the majority of that is for marketing and the developers get only a small fraction of that to work with...

Interesting, I think SWTOR was the previous #1 with a budget of ~200-300$ milion. Hopefully GTAV will not follow the same fate, after the super-hype, but I doubt it. I think this game will deliver, too bad I'll have to wait a long for the PC version.

There's estimates by some that SWTOR cost EA around 500 million, although there's no definite proof of that.

Yeah I'm sure it was part of their marketing plan, throwing out such numbers but a 150-200$ milion budget is not unbelievable everything considered.
