Maybe there will be a teaser trailer in 2025.

I wonder how the engine can be ahead of it's time when we're already waiting for the game so long...

Its only a head of its time until the next Next gen supports the engines features, by the time it gets released it will be on par with the available gen

Could RAGE really beat the UE5 engine? I guess we'll see.

But if the gameplay sucks...

LMAO this UE5 fanboyism based on a couple of tech demos (with very limited scope and terrible performance). No actual UE5 games shipped yet. UE is known for terrible shader stuttering on PC. Yeah, can't share the same optimism as other posters here. UE graphics also don't age very well. GTA5 still looks great and how many years has it been? If you take UE engine game from the same period of time it looks so dated now. And this isn't even talking about RDR2, which no UE game can even come close to in visuals complexity and scale.

Matrix demo performs smooth af for me on my 36003070. Not a single hiccup except for the first time you run it and it caches whatever.

GTA5 already uses the RAGE engine and I see no problem. People give too much importance on the visual fidelity and forget the story and gameplay is what makes a game memorable. I loved to play GTA 3 and it killed me when I finished it: each time. As long as it looks ok and runs stable on low to mid class hardware, who cares what engine is? Story and gameplay, it's what GTA is all about.

but will it make want to play GTA and continue playing to the end? or even after it ended? last GTA i completed was Vice city. it still the only one the head my interests long to finish

I'm all about gameplay these days. I haven't been enthralled by visuals since Unreal. Sure, I do expect a certain level of contemporary graphical fidelity, but it's not going to make or break a game for me.

^^ maybe that is why i keep going back to skyrim.... and the nioh games on PlayStation Skyrim was dated when it came out it still is but mods make look better then ever did.

For me I'm fine with less detailed visuals (e.g. scaled up PS1 graphics like Spyro or Crash running at 4K look really good to me for example), but I do care about image quality when it comes to aliasing. Games with great modern TAA solutions (DOOM Eternal for example or DLSS 2.3) just end up looking so much nicer to my eye as I've always found jaggies really distracting (in the static image or shimmering in motion). The other thing I cannot stand is hitching/microstutter and it's just reached the point of absurdity how common an issue this is on PC nowadays. UE4 games in particular seems to almost all exhibit both asset streaming and shader compilation stutter (Digital Foundry has covered many UE4 games with these issues for example) and then games like Elden Ring come out and perform the same way. Clearly it is possible to make high detail (even open world) games that don't stutter since Red Dead 2 and Cyberpunk did it, but we really need devs to take stuttering way way more seriously than most clearly do. I love graphics, but a smooth experience with good end image quality is preferable to me to super high detail with garbage asset streaming and lots of stutter.

I don't know, i don't agree with you, Mass Effect 1-2 still looks really nice to me (especially with high res textures, the original ones) and they're from 2007 and 2010, the Legendary Edition of the original trilogy also uses Unreal Engine 3. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is on UE 4 and really nice looking game still. I think it's about how devs using the engine, because i've played other games using UE 4 and some of them looked like shinny s**ts.

The only thing i wonder about is will they finally give us proper RP servers. We've all seen how popular GTA-5 RP mods have become. It's real fun when you know all the NPC's could be real people. Real police, real paramedics, real hair dressers and real shop and business owners. If they wanted they could have a proper RP mode which i think could be more fun than the actual game. A place with real rules, i always hated doing 150mph past police and nothing. Doing donuts outside the police station and no one(npc) cares. If they don't sort out the NPC's ai then it'll be just a new GTA with shiny gfx.

According to Digital foundry's tech-review of the PC demo im not sure smooth af would be the correct words 😛 Very interesting video in any case i think [youtube=-x0orqFrHGA]
