My S6 got Marshmallow like a couple of months ago and now a new version is already out meaning I'll have to wait at least a year before it's on my phone (provided I even keep it that long). Samsung is so slooow regarding older models -.-

Will there be any option to manually download/install this onto your phone? my HTC One M8 honestly is 110% suitable for my daily needs, I dont play games on it, and it works really fast, dont see a need to upgrade it. However new/ updated OS would certainly help that. 🙂

Possibly a lack of hardware features, I know my old ASUS Transformer wouldn't run KitKat natively due to no NEON hardware, it made the tablet so laggy it was unusable Something to do with UI layers, which custom ROM dev cured by disabling the internal wallpaper rendering layer, leaving the launcher to do the work instead Looks like the N7 2013 has finally been dropped too

Hopefully we'll see CM 14 soon enough. Just bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 pro. What a phone for the price. Couldn't be happier. Getting CM 14 on it will be the icing on the cake.

The Nexus 5 was released in 2013, Google only supports Nexus products for I believe 2 years? However, they keep Android open and their Nexus products unlocked so...Just go see the boys at XDA. 😀

so even google nexus only get like 2x OS big update ? i mean officially not modded/forced update i thought only samsung did that ... every model only get 2x big update so like S7, it would likely end at android 8.0, if google not changing release schedule... even if it getting it, it will be late thoo i am interested in this year nexus (marlin)... but if it only getting 2x big update like other smartphones... then getting galaxy note7 is not bad then

Cool, yet im there stuck with LG G Flex 2 (released 2015, Snapdragon 810) and still dont have Android 6.0, or any security update for past year. (is this even legal by LG?)

Yeah your best bet would be XDA. I remember when I had my Galaxy S2 and went to a Nexus 4.. aside from battery always not up to par you always get the latest updates.. then I went to Nexus 5, then power button got messed up, got an LG G2 as a back up phone.. never felt so constricted with updates so I went for the 6P when that came out :P I might skip Marlin and go for the next one as the 6P is still a fully capable phone.

I was off a little bit lol. Google supports OS updates to Nexus devices for 18 months. This pretty much included everything except emergency security updates that will be pushed out as long as it is an OS version Google support still. Samsung, HTC, and the other hardware vendors control their support time for their devices. In the US this gets even more complicated as the OS update and support frequency is controlled by the carrier.

XDA is no help because they have locked the bootloader so all we can do is root. There is even bounty to unlock it, but i doubt anyone have made any progress probably nobody even works on it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/bounty-bootloader-unlock-t3322013
