Every game cutscene an Ad which can't be skipped for 5 seconds 😛

They can bet on it all they want. If I don't have the hardware under my own table, I can't trust it and be satisfied with it. Just having a rented server hosting an MP game is a different thing as it's only coordinating the individual player's games to appear in the same world. Even then if you have a huge lag, you will have a harder time sniping or hitting the tank with an rpg, or even just driving a fast vehicle. PC gaming is quite expensive already, but if you aren't aiming at the top 4k world, it's a bit more reasonable. Fortunately games have graphics settings as well.

No. Go away.

Has anyone seen the latency numbers posted by DF? It seems like it has similar latency to an Xbox One X for some things. I guess the work they did on spdy and other protocols worked. I cannot see how useful it would be image-quality wise, but it can probably get a lot of casual people. Their greatest enemy at this point is ISPs, I guess.

Well the big issue with that was as they pointed out it was done in a test environment, so chances are it could be worse latency. If they can push it down to say 100ms then it has more legs, but as it stands it's still gimmicky. Most people don't have the Internet or in some cases enough bandwidth to be able to play games this way. And if you lose net for a second I assume you'd be cut off. And I'd only see it having legs for single player not muti player due to the extra lag. If we as all running around with 500up/500down then maybe this could be a thing but with the average in most of Europe being around 20-30 down I can't see many jumping on it.. And those that have good net well they probs have nice pcs anyway so why bother

I would rather use my own computer instead of a corporations computer via remote control. The controller looks interesting though, I wonder if it can be used to play proper games on PC?

Nice, will give it a go.

No Mouse, No Keyboard, No High FPS, No Low Latency, No G-Sync? No F'ing way.

This wont pick for a while. Idk why are they pushing cloud gaming when its not ready. Google released a system for no one.

It's obviously for mass-market average consumers, not enthusiasts....

This is superb for 4K TV gaming. It has full support for keyboard+mouse and all kinds of controllers. After gaming a whole weekend with Division 2 4k@60fps rock solid and HDR10 enabled on my TV it was a letdown to move the computer back to my 1440P 165HZ predator monitor...4K +HDR is just glorious for gaming. i have a 500/250mbit internet so bring on the streaming gaming for me and ill keep my computer and monitor in the mancave for other gaming 🙂

I understand the various reasons of wanting your own hardware but aside from maybe losing your save files (or just the game in general), what exactly are you concerned with trusting them over? There shouldn't be much personal information associated with this service.

I totally agree with all of that.

I can see that in some countries this will not work. poor network configurations will cause lag. Although it is a nice additional feature, it wont replace any console or PC though, since pc's and consoles have more to offer then just streaming games. I do like the feature of 4k HDR streaming with 8k supported later. When i tried Netflix last year i was quite impressed of their 4k HDR streaming, it looked crazy good on my TV. Now when a giant like Google starts this , things will be crazy good in the end. I do wonder what their subscription is gonna look like, will it be like renting a movie/game or monthly subscription. Personally i do not need to own every single game i play , i have thousands of games on PC which i never play or care about. played it once then never again. was it worth the €60 or could it be cheaper when choosing the subscription ? there are also tons of games which i never cared about playing. Pure greed made me get them, so nice to buy all of them packs, valve pack, id pack etc. then never play them. I would just need a 4k HDR chrome cast device and a subscription since it allows to attach controllers or mouse+kb which i already own. I do not like their joy pad, i bet you can get really sweaty hands on that, it seems not have that special layer on it. just full on plastic. This platform can maybe become insanely popular on Twitch if it will support it and stream directly there as well. I saw there was a waiting room for people who want to play with the guy who was playing , that is pretty cool. one by one they will be picked to play some time. I for one am excited how this will turn out.

Also specifically says you can use your mouse/ keyboard and not every game needs high fps or even low latency. Maybe i want to sit back in my recliner and play some civilization on my tv or rimworld or xcom. None of those games need any of that.

No, I didn't mean that kind of trust. Trust like being able to believe in its reliability because you built it yourself, know its current state, and have nobody else to blame if it fails. As it is, most of my games aren't even mine anymore with Steam, Origin, etc, so in that sense the kind of trust you thought I was talking about has to exist in some potency. If Steam were to suddenly disappear, I'd lose the lion's share of my games, so I guess I have no choice but to trust Steam.

I had a feeling that's what you meant. I agree with all of that. I see these streaming services to be ideal for games that have a very short lifespan, either because the replay value is terrible or because it gets obsoleted within a year. So, particularly games made by EA lately, or maybe some indie games that are cool but maybe a little too short and linear for any substantial replay value. That way you can still play these games without feeling gypped, and you won't really care if anything happens to the service in the event it ever gets shut down. I personally won't bother; like you, I'd rather own my stuff and/or not be at such a competitive disadvantage due to latency.

This is great for parents. If the brat is playing video games for too long, they can just start playing netflix and choke the gaming 😀

Basically the 2010's-2020's equivalent of picking up the phone when someone is on the internet via a dialup modem.

I can't wait for compilation vids of angry little streamers screaming at their mom and dad to shut off netflix 😀

The question will be pricing..... if pricing will be aggressive. I can definitely see how cloud gaming becomes a thing. Owning a high end PC will be like how Netflix vs physical blu-ray copies work today. there's no doubt that Blu-ray is higher quality but for most people the convenience and cost savings of Netflix wins.
