iPhone's screen has grown to 4.7" already, so I suppose it'd not impossible for ipeople to switch to 5", especially since its using the superior oled technology compared to iPhone's IPS. It feels like finding Android phones with screens smaller than 5 inches is quite a challenge these days.

With that insane pricing Google can **** themselves. I've been really waiting for these phones and been ready for a somewhat higher price... but not for the price of the ridiculously overpriced Apple and Samsung toys!

I've been waiting for these too! I buy SIM free so £599 for the base model is just to much! £819 for the 128GB XL, seriously no thanks lol

This was to be expected from google. The handsets are over priced compared to the Nexus 6P, yes i know technically your getting alot more but still Google should have to come better with the pricing. It seems they know they wont be selling millions of units so ramp the price up so the FANBOYS/GIRLS make up for the short fall. I too buy my phones sim free so its a Oneplus 3 for me. Maybe a Oneplus 4 if im wanting more. 🙂

I didn't know Google had fanboys or fangirls. What exactly are they fans of?

He's most likely referring to Nexus users, but I'll not be getting this, HTC is junk. Guess my Nexus 6 will have to keep going for another year.

Just that! I wouldn't go as far as to say HTC were junk. Not the best bust not the worst. Whats your thoughts on oneplus? DAM... Carphonewharehouse are selling contracts for £56pm for the XL on 24Month Contract, Thats £1344 for the full term. Im with BT and pay sim only £15pm Unlimited calls && Text and 20GB data over 24months that costs me £360 leaves me plenty of headroom to by the handset of my choice. Mobile market is a serious RIPOFF.

I might buy it one day... or maybe I will wait for the Galaxy S8. I dunno yet. Apparently its gonna have dual camera. Thats what I care about the most on a phone. That and battery life.

I have an Lenovo Vibe Shot and it has a nice 16MP sensor with OIS for 250 Euro in Europe so Google can go **** together with Apple and Samsung the only really good devices i see there and i would count as an sensible for their price are the HTC10 and the Sony Xperia line like Sony Xperia X Performance which has 88 points from DxOMARK and is 600 euro at the stores and 500 euro at the mobile operators in Bulgaria probably even less somwhere else. By the way i'm really happy with my Lenovo Vibe Shot for more than an year already it is a solid all around performer for its price and probably the only good looking and solid build phone from Lenovo cause the rest feel in the hand like a cheap junk.

Truth be told the only thing that is holding me back right now from going back to Android is there are no smaller sized android devices. I do not like 4.7". 4" is my sweet spot. I don't play games on my phone, videos are fine on that size of the screen, and it fits perfect in my hand for one handed use. Usually I tell my iPhone what to do, and Siri calls me Sir Lancelot. Win win there.

My ancient S4 Mini has a 4.3" screen. I don't want to consider anything larger than 4.5", preferably I'd like to stay at 4.3". But even Sony Z5 Compact is 4.6" despite claiming to be compact. Of late I was considering getting a new phone, but looking around it really hit me how the smaller size selection is next to nonexistent.

It's too expensive for what it is but I'm probably going to buy it anyway.

I would def have been tempted to have bought the £599 model, however I've just bought an X99 SOC Champ, 32GB G.Skills mems, Phanteks cooler and a 50L Dewar. My gf would be so pissed if I done another £600 on a phone. Still got to buy a 5820K and/or 5960X yet lol

Also as far as the US goes, only carrier it's available through for financing is Verizon right now. What....? Not that it matters, one could save up to buy the phone direct from Google anyway at this point. Then it's unlocked! Scratch that, Google does do financing the same way the carriers do it. So guess it does not matter too much after all.

It depends - I've seen a lot of people on reddit with like T-Mobile's Jump program be annoyed because they've basically been paying extra for the potential to jump to the next Nexus device (which is now Pixel) and they are unable to do that. I think the bigger/funnier issue is that Verizon is marketing the phone through it's own advertising as "Verizon Exclusive" which I'm surprised google allowed. A lot of people are going to see that and assume there is no way to use it on other carriers. On a Nexus device, the status of the brand wouldn't effect much - but it's clear that Google is trying to push/advertise Pixel for mass appeal.

As far as I know, Verizon does not have anything like Jump. But their exclusive title comes from it is the only carrier that offers the Pixel directly. You know what's funny about the Pixel is even on Verizon, the device is still unbranded. Meaning there is no Verizon logo on it. This is one of the few Android devices sold by a carrier with no carrier branding. Now I wonder what kind of Verizon bloat will be on it? 🙂

This phone is really nothing special and cost way way too much, S7 would be a better choice, especially S7E. Bad start for Pixel.

the prices for "smartphones" are just rediculous now, yet people cant live with out them cause they need to post every thing of there life on some social site. Everyone made the goverments of there worlds job easier namely tracking, cause there more smartphones out there then anything else.

S7 Edge on Amazon for £499, better specs than the Pixel XL and £320 cheaper Don't understand Googles pricing on this, not exactly the premium product that makes the S7 range look poor compared, IMO it should be priced between the S7 and the Edge, although I wouldn't switch my S7 for it
