He said the project had "broken ground and allowed us to learn what's important to consumers and enterprises alike" and he was excited to be working with the team "to integrate those learnings into future products".
Pretty much says it all: they thought everybody would love it and pay 1000$/€ to get it, but customers don't. They need to go back to the concept and do a revamp. Pretty much sums it up, a failed alpha that needs quite some work to become a public beta product. Good thing google has more money than god could ever have, so they can keep stuff like this running...

Would you walk around all day pointing your mobile camera phone at everyone you look at ? Well wearing this contraption you will be doing just that. I have a problem having a camera pointed in my face when im talking to someone wearing one of these. Remove the camera would be a great start.

Ah all the violence that will now not happen because some people are really adverse to having their photo taken by others.

Honestly, I liked the concept but thought they looked really dumb. If they could have made it look less stupid to wear and had a lower price point I think I would have liked to own a pair.

Good thing Google makes so much from its search engines, 'cause without that the company would be just about worthless, imo. I mean...like Google glass, what's the market for self-driving cars, really? About nil, I'd say. (They'll be giving driver's licenses to people's pets before they'll be licensing these "self-driving" monstrosities on the highways...;)) Giving away copies of a perpetually beta browser and email space does little for their bottom line, either--except giving them a platform from which to spy on their users and peddle their data. And when you consider that Google Docs is just average software--almost public-domain in character and quality--the more Google does the more mediocre the company seems to me.

Not that I want to protect or defend Google or anything.... But you do know that Chrome is from Google... And that Android... The os wich is used on about 60 to 80% of all smartphones in the world is co developed by Google right? They also own YouTube. But with Android alone they would have enough money already. And here in Europe on car conventions, especially on the level of trucks, they showed to plan to have self driving trucks, which already exist, to be on the roads in 10 to 15 years. I don't know from which planet you come but it's not the same as my one apparently... Edit: ah I see.. You're from Mars... Logical then

Like the above post, what? Do you know how many companies google owns and makes tons of money from?

+1, it's way too creepy in it's current form, the camera is necessary for it to function so I think that the project is going to be "on hold" indefinitely.

If they had only released a Saiyan variant with power reading functionality, then maybe, just maybe, it would have worked!

Nah...

Funny how everybody misunderstood the point. Which was that the only thing Google makes money from is serving ads in search, and ironically most of this income comes from PC, not from mobile searches. And if a company cannot make money with their products, what they are really worth? People use them because they are free, not because they are better.
