Soon they will run out of letters.

As somebody who doubts that those new android versions are much but simple bugfixes (from a user's point of view!), I have a hard time getting excited about it anymore. No real value for users since Android5, imho. Upgrading probably only kills you device's battery life (my personal paranoia theory).

It's pretty sad that between Google, the manufacturers, and the service providers that users end up with an Android version that's a year old if not older. Everything aside from freshly released phones seem to be stuck on 6.0.1 or older. My phone is relatively new and I was stuck on 6.0.1 until recently. With the manufacturer being dicks and not providing the necessary anything I couldn't even get a fully functional custom ROM of 7+, I would have had to break functionality in multiple ways.
Google need to really step up and do something to fix this, service providers refuse to even give out security updates.

So I guess if another deal could be struck for 'O' it would be possible for it to be 'Oreo'?
I was sure I had read they had licencing problems getting Nutella and ended up going with Nougat, but can only find this:
When Google and Nestle formed a partnership for KitKat, Google told Mashable no money was exchanged in the deal. Instead, it was a mutually-beneficial marketing campaign.
“KitKat has been a favorite candy on the team for some time, so for the K release, we asked if they’d be willing to lend their iconic candy bar to its name,” Google explained on Android’s Google Plus page back in 2013.
Perhaps the latter involved countless hours of negotiations. Perhaps some money was exchanged after all, and it was Nestle that ultimately benefitted. Perhaps Ferrero — the owner of Nutella — had no intention of licensing its product’s name to Google.

I can't see "O" being anything else rather than "Oreo".
Google will benefit from it, Oreo owners will benefit from it, getting at least 2 years of free advertisements for 400-500million smartphone users.

From the logo alone if it's not Android Orange i'd be heavily surprised

Dessert or deserted? I really like Android but oh hey, look at me...another new version whilst other devices get left behind in the dust.

@Neo Cyrus/nick0323
and why would they care?
when 80% of users dont even keep their phones for (+1 or 2) years?
my Xperia z is now 4y old and physically giving up (not waterproof anymore) and thats the only reason im replacing it.
as long as they dont patch/fix something that can be used/exploited in a "bad" way, i dont care about updates to android anyway...

It's been a long time since I noticed anything different when my android updates. The "latest" version of android's essentially the same as the last few with minor tweaks. I'm sure there's stuff happening under the hood but it feels the same. Currently running 6.0 and 7.0 on my devices.

Am i the only one that want Google to call it A.W.E.S.O.M.-O ?
