Ok, Google, piss off. Your Chrome is not perfect and has its share of issues, it is stupid to promote it in such way.

Are Windows 7 updates fixed by chance? I have had W7 updates disabled for the last 6 months.. and would re-enable if it happens to be functioning again..

lol, nope, dunno about installs last updated 6 months back, but clean installs still need a PITA workaround to get them to see WUs, or use 3rd party tools

Google did the right thing, make noise and force m$ to actually fix the problem instead of pulling crap. Now this hussle not just between coders.

Didnt update mine for a loooong time now, nothing but trouble came out of updating Win7. Unless you actually trying to get your PC infested you are fine. If someone serious after your PC, believe me, latest win upgrade and anti-viruses wont stop him. Anti viruses are just malware this days, it has cute UI showing its hard work and how you would be ****ed up if you dont use it. So yeah, relax. There probably much more horrible exploits out there, yet to be discovered by good guys and announced.

Have to agree. While it is akin to bullying, it takes a company as big as Google to make this happen. Microsoft provides the OS and Microsoft is responsible for security of its own code. Google is helping them by reporting and allows 10 days before reporting publicly. If they dropped the 10 days, what incentive does Microsoft have to expedite a resolution? Feet to fire - pull feet back or watch them melt. Microsoft has publicly said 10 days is too short as the correct code must undergo validation testing. This is a feet dragging excuse made by every tech company. SSD has problem that needs correction by firmware? Company says the fix is undergoing testing. New BIOS to correct memory instability? Company says the fix is undergoing testing. New code to fix security exploit? Company says the fix is undergoing testing. Problem is, if they knew how to validate properly the flaw wouldn't be there in the first place. More time for testing is just a delay tactic.

So does this mean I should or should not use a PC until it's fixed? ;)

You should stay in basement 'till then. 😀 Battle between Corporations, nothing new. 😉 M$$$ wants some market share from Google, nothing new.Chrome is bad, IE & Edge are good, yeah right.

Microsoft and Exploits seem to go hand and hand LOL

No, it means you shouldn't use Win10 but most sensible people know that already 😉

Problem is, Google is risking users.....and their Android platform is just as insecure as Windows, if not more so. When is Google going to start notifying the public as to known exploits in Android? Android still has vulnerabilities that have existed since Gingerbread....

This is literally some of the worst advice I've ever seen. There are ton of active exploits out there, exactly like the one that Google published, that rely on people just clicking a link, or simply going online. It's stupid of Microsoft not to release a true Service Pack for Windows 7. You can get your Windows 7 Update unstuck by installing these two updates. No serious exploit these days is based on the user installing something. Most modern browsers with something like Smart Screen, will warn you multiple times, as Windows will. I see people disabling UAC and SmartScreen, closing Defender and Windows Update, and then complaining that Windows are not secure. :infinity: The truly dangerous exploits are the ones based on kernel vulnerabilities.

I'm not going to go into full details about this Exploit but Google will, so every basement dweller now knows how to do it. I still set my Firefox to warn of Flash updates and not do it automatically but with Win 10 for some reason doesn't warn me that an update has been released, that's a serious issue because i Manually have to check for updates myself. You can check for Adobe updates through Firefox/addons/update but i prefer to do it through Windows, Control Panel, Flash Player(32-bit), Updates, Check Now. I have no idea why Firefox/Windows 10 doesn't give me the warning of an update. I'm ok because i'm very on the ball with these things but i bet there's millions of computers out there that haven't updated Flash player in ages.

That's just not true. It is impossible to test for every possible configuration these days. No hardware/software is going to be released bug free. It's just not possible. And rather than push out a fix immediately that could potentially break something for a large number of other users, they need to test it properly. It's smart business. Otherwise, you'll end up getting sued by all the entitled idiots in the world.

I dont think this good idea on googles part a Browser is far cry from an OS exploit

why would out there own issues with there own os then not doing so makes them look like hypocrites.

I don't think that's accurate. Google could wait a month, for example, and then announce the vulnerability. That would look even worse for Microsoft because it would then be clear that they'd had plenty of time to address the issue and either weren't able to (thus incompetent) or didn't bother (thus ignoring security vulnerabilities in their products). Now that would be a massive PR issue for MS, much worse than not addressing the issue in a week/10 days... which is a tight time-frame for an issue like this. What does Google lose by delaying the announcement for a longer period of time; say a month for example? In my eyes, they lose nothing other than the opportunity to tarnish MS' reputation a little.

Google hates Microsoft because that's the only real competitor they have. Apple is slowly going the way of the dodo, meanwhile Microsoft stuff seem to be even more innovative than Apple stuff. Apple is dead (in the long run), the only thing remaining between Google and total global domination is Microsoft.
