Youtube is a crock of sh1t nowadays anyway, it frequently doesn't even work properly and it almost always buffers when I skip the video even though the section I'm skipping to is shown to be loaded. That's what happens when you've got no real competitors, you get a sh1t product.

I already use Premium (no ads) it's called uBlock Origin.

I use uBlock Origin too. Since youtube changed terms and I lost the monetization of my channel, I enabled the blocking again. Of course I disable it for GURU3D 😉

I don't encounter the first problem - Youtube has always worked pretty smoothly for me. The only quirky "glitch" I commonly encounter is where the comments section sometimes doesn't load. Maybe a couple times a year I also get a glitch where I get 2 ads in a row. The 2nd problem you mentioned I get from plenty of websites; it isn't just a Youtube problem.

Vimeo and Dailymotion aren't real competitors? Anyway, I personally think it's a decent product. Of course, there's room for improvement, but I like it.

Vimeo is mostly used by artists, you know, real artists? short-movies and such, daily motion not even close, there are no competitors to youtube, if you look at the numbers.

Never had a problem with Youtube.... Until now. Subscribing to Google Play Music gives me Youtube Red for free.

Is the audio quality also improved? I use yt just for convenience knowing the quality is generally poor.

Pay 10€/month and then suddenly music you like gets flagged inappropriate and removed from their service...

lol same here. Still happy though, I don't know if I could live a sane life watching ads on YOUTUBE. I have FIREFOX and everything works 99% well with ABP and UBO.

A crap product that's needlessly censored, abused in every way, and politically manipulated while letting major BS through. The "Hurr, it's a private company they can do anything they want!" false logic BS should be thrown into an active volcano. When a company has a GLOBAL monopoly on something, they should be subject to many more laws than normal. YouTube is outright abusive and manipulative as Facebook.

They need money. Like all video platforms before it, "services" like youtube struggle to make a profit, despite billions of $ being involved. Losing youtube would be a lot more devastating globally than losing Steam. I have no problem admitting that youtube has also helped me save more money than any other service ever on the internet in many aspects of my life.

I always wonder how Google have not shutdown Youtube. Could be wrong but I think they are losing big money on providing this service. If the statistics are to be believed, 300 hours of video are added every minute. They probably bought manufacturing lines from WD and Seagate factories just to pump out hard drives only for them every day or maybe even whole factories so they keep up with their demand for just Youtube. 😛 And obviously storage for backup and multiple copies of the same data for CDN locations. And that's just the expenses for data storage. Hey, maybe videos that are deleted for dubious reasons claiming that they are violating their terms is just to free up storage and cut down on expenses.. :P

I think it should have been YouTube premium to begin with since the stuff they are offering premium stuff in YouTube/Google's eyes.

Yeah BlipTV tried their hand in it but went under. Yeah YouTube has changed alot some good and some bad. Such as users loosing the ability to monotize their videos.

That too, I forgot about it. It has a habit of loading really late or outright not loading at all, especially on my laptop (even though I'm using the same browser, always updated, and the same OS). As for the buffering issue, sometimes it's bearable but it's frequently not. It even buffers when I skip 5 forward seconds using the arrow key. I mean come on, that's silly.

Yes, I forgot to mention the censoring and unfair demonetization of content. One of the audio engineers I've been watching, Glenn Fricker, recently got his videos demonetized from what I've seen in a newsletter he sent because, get this, he used the word 'fuck' (not frack, the other f-word) too much. I find demonetization of such videos utterly disgusting. Some people's humor relies on swearing, what is this bullshit? This action seems very 2018 where everybody's offended by anything. And youtube is promoting that pathetic mentality.

Yeah, losing the ability to monetize for absurd reason is very bullshit like I said above. It's just like censorship.

Since this was announced I noticed Nine Inch Nails official youtube channel started uploading the official video clips for quite a few of their tracks.
