It will be interesting to see the overall performance difference between DDR4 and DDR5. Historically it's never been much but there are a few decent DDR5 kits showing up now.

Being a "standard" user I'm also confused by the whole DDR4 vs. 5 - so are you saying for a user who wants to build the best gaming rig that DDR5 is not a step up as I'm not sure which to go for? Also with the whole power supply thing...not sure I'm giving Gigabyte my money. Looking forward to seeing Asus high-end Z690 specs....

What can take an advantage of pcie5 anyway? Nvme and gpus are pcie4.

Yes /no /kinda ..... It really depends what kind of timings the ddr5 will manage . Most likely a ddr4 4200 cl24 kit will be faster than the initial ddr5 4800 cl40 kits . Is not something new thought the jump from ddr2 to ddr3 was a meh as well so it was the jump from ddr3 to 4 ... Mostly because the new tech comes with premium and there are not yet real high ends super binned chips .... So the comparison happens with the best the old tech has to offer against the very new overpriced tech that still has ways to go to unfold it's potential !
