Looks like Threadripper 3000 OCing will get more attention and Gigabyte will include VRM water cooling block? or maybe Hybrid type with Fins.

So how many phases are going to be cut for the retail ("revision 1.1") models versus the samples sent to reviewers you think?

For our sake let us hope that you are wrong and this time around they get to review what is actually going to come to market. Then again I personally won't be buying any Gigabyte anything in the however long foreseeable future there might be for me.

By now enthusiast should know the risk they take by buying Gigabyte, especially after the initial delivery of boards.

I haven't gotten a board from them in years, but I take it they still commonly do this then, even on high-end boards (or especially there, since those have more expensive components to cheap out on later?)

is that still a recent thing? I thought they did that couple of years ago, they still do it current gen?
Gigabyte got caught multiple times cheapening their motherboards and not documenting it properly (or at all) or changing SKU. IMO to objectively verify this a review site (like Guru) would have to revisit their reviews 1 or 2 years later with a new off the shelf purchase of the same item to see if the product is still the same. Aside from possibility minor fixes the product should remain the same.

if the "cheapening" true, then it really need to be shoutted out, i use some gigabyte mobo, all i know so far, compared to other maker, gigabyte tends have "revision" but those "revision" not exactly "cheapening" the mobo like they changing few caps, from gigabyte saying that simply some of caps depends on their stocks in factory, so they rather swap some caps for the product line rather having shortage on the caps and a mobo become having un-unified caps such that not necessary "cheapening" , if the caps they using still on same quality other than that i have yet to read more regarding this

until there is a Navi laptop, i'm still rocking the Intel/Nvidia laptops. my I-7 7700 is still working great, but i have core envy (esp. as my desktops have AMD/Nvidia). i want "moar cores"!

Lets see if I was correct and x499 will get 8ch memory 🙂.

no bet, esp after Intel's recent vaporware announcement. the only drag is that ups the ante financially for us enthusiasts.and SFF enthusiasts dear god with two sticks per channel you're looking at 16 slots...which is tight on an e-atx and i hate e-atx, even tho' it's the easiest form factor to build with. not holding my breath, but Optane-style RAM in two multi slot vertical bays would enable a sff, but again, the cost.

Why 16 slots? IMO 8 slots will be enough for HEDT.

true dat, but c'mon High end. right now, due to the popularity of RAM virtual drives and the massive render files of content creators the "need" for vast quantities of RAM is like nothing ever seen before. as it is now, my threadripper has more RAM than my first four computers had memory (32gb) and when i'm with my work friends they tease me for only slotting in 32gb...most have 64. but my point on mobo real estate is very valid. and for real...how many people need an RTX 2080ti vs buy one or want one?
