Oh that's nice, just saw that F20 was out, beta ("a" letter after the version number which then goes up incrementally.) but well that might be a fun little update after skipping the earlier AGESA's and whatever else Giga has been working on themselves and fixes for their hardware. EDIT: Nice lots of new little options.

Be aware that F20a causes SVM to be on all the time, even with the setting being toggled to off in the BIOS.

Yeah saw that, Secure Virtual Machine for VM though I am still looking for some info on if there's some actual downside to this. Seems mixed so far some saying there's a performance hit others that it's not a problem. Well it's the first beta of F20 here so that and the regression of the settings screen listing the 590 aren't totally unexpected. (Thought it was interesting at first but nope it's just the earlier naming AMD used and then it became the 570 only.) Some new USB C settings and as expected from the 1.0.0.6 discussion further additions to advanced overclock settings that I'm totally lost by and a few additions to SATA settings. Device manager shows changes to the PCI hardware with some no longer active entries but that's expected as 1.0.0.5 updated the PCI Express firmware and then the timer needed a resync in the OS but eh that's not even a issue. So far nothing too problematic, expecting there to be some B, C, D and so on updates over time before F20 final is readied unless Gigabyte moves right on to F21 or whatever although having skipped 1.0.0.5 and possibly 1.0.0.6 for 1.0.0.2v2 or what this is this is probably the next in line for a non-beta bios update since...November? December? (Some of the F12's curiously moved to the main release page despite being in beta and then getting further updates through April, May and June depending on motherboard model ending at F, G or H before this popped up.) EDIT: Probably more tweaks to memory and memory kit compatibility and timings and all that too. I expect most of the major issues to be resolved as F20's on the Gigabyte website in addition to the Tweaktown beta topic and posts there about these bios updates but there's likely some smaller issues and stuff to work on in the upcoming weeks. Seems stable at least after re-configuring it and all but it's been a few hours at most so that's too early to say but it doesn't seem like a bad update thus far. 🙂 EDIT: Plus MSI, Asus and the others would also have to update, MSI seems to be doing fast work of incorporating the latest AGESA firmware bits into the bios although the others can be a bit slower and support for non B550's or X570's could take a while too even if support for these motherboards is still very much active.

Updated to F20b now whatever those changes could be compared to the initial "a" build. https://www.tweaktownforum.com/forum/tech-support-from-vendors/gigabyte/28656-gigabyte-latest-beta-bios And on checking the Gigabyte website I see there's also another hardware revision for a few motherboard, initially the X570 Master I'm using had a 1.1 adding a Thunderbolt pin and now there's some 1.2 rev doing something else too. Could just be a new revision ensuring F20's are on the board bios to begin with though instead of what was it F2 or F3 some early build (F4's the latest on the website.) yeah definitively update that as needed if there's something really old on it ha ha. 😀 (At worst it could also be a reduction in build quality but hopefully it's not that.) Also the F20 bios at least for this motherboard is unlisted from their website now and instead it's just F12g as the latest so I just checked via the Tweaktown Gigabyte beta bios topic and found this new version. 🙂 (F20a is still up on boards like the Elite so could just be a oversight again.)

F20b seems fine, first thing I noticed is the virtualization that works properly again, the “fast” preset from DRAM calculator with 1900/3800 seems to work as usual with the same voltages. Some users commented that voltages behave slightly different since F20a, other than that seems like a fine BIOS, gets a solid recommendation from me.

Tweaking to memory compatibility and some bug fixing then, maybe it won't be too many releases for the F20's but I suppose it remains to be seen. F12 was about the same at least for what little was posted on the changes for it and that went from A to G or H depending on the motherboard type. Good to know it fixed some of the known about problems with the initial bios release for this set. 🙂 Guess it depends on further pending fixes or possible known issues and tweaking for memory training or compatibility possibly also AMD but mostly only if they do some A or other revision of the new 1.0.0.2 AGESA until the next update probably in time for the Ryzen 4000's later this year I would expect. (Possibly some update to the chipset drivers as well.) EDIT: Not like much is posted about bios updates most of the time other than smaller mentions like memory compatibility and AGESA updates and it's not always that AMD posts AGESA changes either so no idea if there's any major outstanding issues with the current 1.0.0.2 one and if the next one up is 1.0.0.3 or a fix without a version bump. And regardless of which one of those it is then it's also up to whenever the motherboard manufacturers include it in a later bios update, Gigabyte did skip 1.0.0.5 and 1.0.0.6 with far as I know unconfirmed info citing bugs as the reason for that wait.
