They have been offering this forever, its not exactly news (and not really mainstream either, they are the only one doing that and they employ a rather popular overclocker). News is the silver IHS though.

Jesus 870 Euros,shit for that money i can have Threadripper with massive amount of PCIE lanes,not some meagerly 16,simple for that price i don't know it is simple waaaay to much to pay for that kind of CPU (just my itch,i don't play that much and definitely don't play games that would require 5.2Ghz CPU)

OCUK in the UK also do 5.2Ghz bins for £800, complete waste imo, most of these chips with proper cooling are going to do 5Ghz! Why anyone would spend more than double the price of Retail chip for 200Mhz gain over what they'll likely clock their chip at I'll never know!

I never thought I'd say it, but it seems that some PC enthusiasts are as dumb as Apple sheep. Paying over twice the retail price for 200 MHz and a custom IHS is about as dumb as standing in line for a week for the newest iToy. I guess we can now see why Intel has done so well over these years, as there are people who are willing to spent gobs of money for very little gain. As the saying goes, a fool and his money are soon parted.

Intel- I am sorry to say this but you no longer call the shots so either adjust your prices according to Ryzen or Gtfo plain and simple. These guys sure have some balls to ask these amounts,I hope they dont sell even 1 cpu.

What are you on about! There not charging 500 euros for the IHS lol There charging for binning the chip and ensuring you get higher clocks with good voltage. Its probably closer to 30 euro for the Silver IHS. Not to mention its not Intel charging the 800+ its the retailer doing it lol You just seem to what to blame Intel for a business trying to make more money, which they all do, no ones forcing anyone to buy any of this lol I wouldn't pay it, most of these chips will do 5Ghz with good cooling and a delid.
