I hope decent custom cards come out on launch day bios mod maybe some voltage and cooling that should keep me busy a week or so

if those fire strike numbers are accurate, than I'm glad I bought a Titan X.

keep telling yourself that. stock titan x firestrike graphics score 17396 (CPU 5960X !) stock 980 ti firestrike graphics score 17091 (CPU 4790K)

11% slower than a Titan X (looking at the FireStrike score), but 26% faster than a GTX 980, i don't think that is bad at all. I bet the Titan X is more than 10% more expensive than a GTX 980 😉 Hmm somebody else already did the math 😀

Texture fill rate is higher than the Titan X, which doesn't make sense given those clock speeds.

980 ti is 10% off a titan x and I am guessing 30% cheaper. That is a win win for the 980 ti.

30% cheaper means it still costs 700-750$. Idk if you can call that a win.

So do you consider the upcoming rebrands from amd a better option?, except for fiji I am guessing

how did you come to that conclusion? difference between 17396 and 17091 is about 1%, not 10. also, my findings are consistent with this graph from few days ago. and pay attention that 980Ti is even faster than Titan X in Firestrike ultra and extreme! REMOVED

That does not make any sense if they are both clocked the same. I am basing the difference based on the original titan vs the 780 ti, that was roughly a 10% difference maybe a little less.

You can just wait 8 months and get 16nmFF+/HBM2 PASCAL chip if you're going Nvidia. Unless you have extra money to spend it makes no sense to me buying either a 980/980 Ti or the Titan X -- especially if coming from Kepler.

I wouldn't count on high-end Pascal being released in 8 months. It'll probably be a gradual transition a la Maxwell, starting with lower end chips. Anyways, this looks good and definitely better bang for your buck compared to the Titan. I don't feel dumb for getting the Titan just yet, though!

Speeds or no speeds i'm not gonna like the card fully until i know exactly what nVidia has done to the card. What exactly has been laser cut and does it mean it will be more like the 970's big brother. Of course for now it will pwn any thing thrown at it but what about 1 year down the line when Win10 and DX12 is in full effect. Will this card have bandwidth issues like the 970. For me with a 980 then it's got to be Pascal and not some cut down card, like a greyhound with 3 legs.

Yeah I don't really know why I said 8 months, ****ty math on my part. I think it will be around March next year, so 10/11 months. 16nmFF+ will be in full production by November. So Nvidia will start getting samples by Dec/Jan. I also suspect they'll want a Tegra X2 with it and I actually think the architecture might show up there first.

If this is accurate I may just get one custom card put it under water overclock the crap out of and wait for Pascal.

A minor selling point on the old titans was DP performance, now the only major differences are more shaders on the titan x and 12gb of vram. I do not see the 980ti coming in 12gb flavors. Though I suspect the titan to run out of gpu grunt before vram imo.

980 I'm just going to wait till 2016, when one of you crazy guys with too much money sells their uber rig for half the price they built it for. I will:lurk: use the crap out of it for 6 more years like I have always done lol. Please keep spending ty!

And now comes the decision.. do I stick with sli 970 or sellem for a single TI :|

If it ends up being anymore then $700 for a base model I'm just going to splurge and get a titan x
