Glad to see my Tri-fire beats Tri-sli 980's still 🙂

Crossfire and sli are still the solution for good frame rate at 2k and above i think that with 20 nm on the horizon we'll see a difference 🙂

If there all reference cards like 690 and previous regular Titan they could hold many phases as well as integrated I2C commands which will really unlock the card on water. The datasheet will reveal all, i may just go with 2 classys myself. It depends on how i feel on the day because at 1440p the 980s are superb and with a voltage unlock they could really fly along. Also i know that EVGA are not popular on here atm but for people who own evga cards here is a warranty extended from 3 years to 5 years for free for limited time only! http://eu.evga.com/articles/00877/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-980-970-FREE-5-Years-Warranty/
These cards are great up to 1440p and prob 1600p but my cards are better in 4k probably something to do with the memory bandwidth on maxwell. My cards are a tad faster than 970 sli and around 10% or so slower than 980 sli, I am going to wait for big daddy maxwell, should be great.
I don't see myself leaving 1440 for a while as "4K" is just too expensive and only does 60Hz currently. I really want to see what comes, plus I don't have the funds currently as my fiance and me are having to pay for our own wedding (and she gets what she wants).

Yeah I know what you mean, I would deffo get the classys over the msi cause of voltage unlock. As for your wedding, get your cards before the wedding otherwise you will never get them when your married lol.

No I'm referring to the FCAT spikes to 0ms they represent a dropped/skipped frame enough of them within a second can be seen as micro-stutter. I hope this is just a driver issue as these are the first Maxwell based cards that have supported SLI. Most people will not see them as they game at 60Hz but I play at 100Hz so it may be noticeable. http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=12866
Ahh I see, well I game on 144 hz, should I be worried? Because the two gtx 970's are due to arrive in two weeks time or maybe less...

Naw she was fine with the h2o build and triple monitors (which i sold and am now on a QNIX). She will be fine with the upgrade as long as the bills are paid.

No I wouldn't, I suspect it's all a driver issue that will be sorted in the next few weeks. And I trust Hilbert when he say's not to worry. I'm just a worry wart.

Well I personally get the feeling that the 980-SLI is a quite nice setup for 1440p gaming, yet we have to see what the TitanXs bring. With their vram bus I guess they will get 6GB, and that could probably make them the winner at 4k again. But I'm not that sure they will necessarily do much better than the 980SLI at 1440p. What to get, questions over questions... 😕

dropped/skipped or runt frames FCAT should be able to distinguish between them, but the review doesn't focus much on this what seems to be the main issue atm with GTX 970 SLI no such issues with 980 SLI

That was 980 SLI both the maxwell cards exhibit this behavior.

oops even I can make a mistake 🙂

^eh we're all human.

This is BS. Why don't you test these cards with more than one monitor. You know like what most people are likely to have instead of one big fat ridiculously expensive monitor. And no, it isn't about the resolution because the resolution of one big fat monitor is likely to be as high or even higher than 2 or 3 smaller resolution panels. It's about the compatibility of those cards in SLI with multiple monitors. That is something Nvidia seems to have forgotten or abandoned lately. How suddenly with the latest WHQL drivers for these cards, vision surround no longer works with more than one monitor but if I reload my older driver it works perfectly.

The smallest minority are those who run more than one monitor...

gonna need an update on the frameskipping before i buy into Maxwell, perhaps by 960 sli review it'll be remedied?
data/avatar/default/avatar16.webp
Well PCper dont look to get this on their review.. But they have maybe set Fcat graph to dont report them or fraps ( they do a strange mix between fraps frametimes and Fcat it seems, well i dont know, i find their result really strange when compared to other who use Fcat )

it warrants an update whenever it gets seen to imo. you can't just leave the 970 /980 sli reviews with such a stain.

Actually they do, just not in all titles, follow the orange line: http://www.pcper.com/files/imagecache/article_max_width/review/2014-09-18/G3-Bioshock_2560x1440_PLOT.png

Hilbert here's your 760 sli fcat, with hitman cause bioshock was messed up with 760s) very clean indeed, it was these fcat readings that made me sway to my current setup. http://i.imgur.com/oF9mbV8.png

Intressant, i have not take care of this. Without really looking at it, i was think you had a similar panel of games ( but not in the fcat tests ). Anyway, we can clearly imagine that the gpu's are new and the first driver ( 's ) are maybe not yet fully optimized.
