Hmm, well, that's something to look forward to kinda, but it's no more concrete then all the other crazy stuff we've heard about the 780 May 23rd may end up being a day i'm really excited about....or really disappointed by (if they have a ridiculous price)

If its only a bit quicker than a 680, looks like I'll be keeping my 580 for another year.

Will be going SLI instead! £250 for my Gigabyte 660ti 3GB card, another 80 for 850w PSU then another £260 for SLI which will defo be faster than the new 7xx...

Last year i switched from an Ati 5850 to a GTX 670 - big jump in performance. I just don't see how i'm going to pay 500+ bucks for a card, which will be a bit faster than the previous generation. I'll wait until the 670 becomes "obsolete" like the 5850 and i'll make another jump, probably to a 870/880 or 900 series. I'm not excluding Ati, they often have the best performance for the $.

Does not sound like a worthy upgrade over a 6 series. looks like I'll be skipping the 7xx. But then again there is always the crowd that has to have the newest and fastest, that ain't me.

A "bit" faster than the 680? WTF? So it's not a GK110 chip then, not the Titan LE. It better not be $500 then, watch, it's $600. This is infuriating, this nonsense duopoly who are clearly working together. One way or another the consumer always ends up getting screwed.

Who cares if it's a bit faster or not? It's not exactly new gen hardware. If it's a bit faster, it will either cost the same or slightly less. Don't get why so many are getting steamed up. It's been 1 year 2 months since the release of the 6xx series only. Next gen is next year (~2 years after 6xx). There's no reason to believe the prices will be Titan-high.

Still, $500 is outrageous for a 14 month old GPU. If I knew this bull**** would happen I would have bought a GTX 680 back then. Maxwell was supposed to be out this year. I was waiting to buy it at the same time as Haswell.

Titan LE would only be a "bit" faster than the 680 anyways say 15-20% because the Titan is 25-30% faster than the 680 with the meager performance increase they would be dumb to price this over the $600 mark.

Well this is good news. I wonder when MSI will release a Lightning edition? I am on the "refresh" bandwagon. I think buying the refreshes of current generation tech is a much better way to go. Reason being, you get the best out of a generation.

In the case of the GTX580 I agree. But the 680 throttling issues may not be solved. The Titan has the same issues, both Titan and 780 are based on GK110.

any chance we could see CEC introduced over hdmi ffs? the price of these cards and all these years with hdmi and still no CEC 😡

680 is now going to be overclocked alittle 4% - 7% faster and called the 770, that card should be cheaper to make by now. Like 480>570 so under 425usd If titan jr. follows the Tesla K20C, the 2496-core part with 5GB of GDDR5 as rumored whats that going to run 600 max? would be more toward the cuda use i would think Screw all that thuo... the rumored 760ti looks like a winner. claims of 20% higher over 660ti fit in that 340ish market and get two for under 1k that might be the best setup all year???? Custom boards wont be luanch day which sucks but by late june maybe.

Nothing has been denied or confirmed but i was skeptical to begin with about the 780 being GK110. Not only that but if it was there is no way in hell it would've been priced at 599$ it would've been more like 699-799$. Then there is the large price and performance difference between the 770 and the 780 if the 780 is GK110. We're to expect marginal increase from the 8970 as well. If it's 10-15% faster clock for clock that would be pretty impressive considering it's a refresh on the same process. All in all if i can still get reference 7970s i'll be looking to continue my tri/quad fire build. Refreshes while a common/logical industry practice are almost always disappointing to me. There's also the fact that if the 780 is a kepler refresh and does launch with 4Gb of GDDR5 it's still going to be limited by the bus width at higher res, less that's increasing as well.

Titan is around 43% faster than the 7970 and 680 at 1600p and around 32% faster than the 7970ghz edition. LE would be around 30% faster if it was within 10-15% performance of Titan. Honestly for 1080p Titan is a waste IMO doesn't really show it's potential till you scale it with two or three of them at higher res.

But it's wiki..though right? As i said we wont really know until the end of may. Titan LE for 599$ is wishful thinking if we see it, it will be priced higher i imagine. I'm expecting a kepler refresh. And less AMD surprises us all with Sea Islands i'm expecting the same. Which would only give more incentive to current gen owners to wait for maxwell/AMD equivalent.

Titan is 50-80% faster than the 680...it's basically GK104 (680) and GK110 and GK110 is highly boosted in terms of cuda cores and overall spec hence the much greater performance of the Titan. There should be a good gap between the 780 and the 770 since the 770 is still based on GK104 (because it's a slightly boosted 680).

Give me a reason to upgrade my 570 ! Sucks not to have a reason to upgrade any computer parts used to be fun.

So if i am able to get a 670 right now it will be a good investment?

I think that is confirmed weather the 780 is a refresh or Titan LE. So i would say yes and you can get them for 350$ and under sometimes. The 670 IMO really undercuts the 680 because they're very close performance wise. If the 680 would've had a 320-bit bus or bigger it would made it more valuable IMO. You also get metro last light i think. Honestly i think the current Gen will be fine until maxwell/9000 series To add though i wouldn't pay 350+ for a 670 because by then your in 7970 range and around the 400$ mark the 7970 is the best buy IMO. If you don't fancy ocing you can simply flash to Ghz Bios or if you do OC it to 1125/1575 or higher. Lots of performance for the price, make sure you buy reference or the one exception the MSI twin frozr/boost, it actually is reference PCB.
