The threads are automatically created, but you do need to select a forum section. Next time, go to the 'advanced tab' and select Frontpage news as forum. That's where a thread will be posted then. But this only happens once you post the news item. What you can do now is create a thread linking to the news item and then manually select it in "Use the following forum thread for comments"

That's what I thought, unfortunately, I can't find the "Use this Forum" on my Advanced Page, all I have are these sections: This story was contributed by: Description: Keywords: SEO URL (without .html): Block Override: Tagged As (Optional): Use the following forum thread for comments: Teaser Image: File: Status: Password (required if you select option #3): Am I missing something or not? I did look at the other news articles that you have posted and saw exactly the same sections as above.

You are checking your item that already is posted. Since it is already posted you can't create a new thread. Add a new news item and go to the advanced page 😉
